It is never easy to do something like this otherwise we wouldn't have feelings. It is like losing a member of your family. Who can do something like this without sorrow and some tears has no feelings at all. GOD SPEED STARR !!! Prayers to you and Donna in this difficult time to ease your pain.

She is in a better place now y'all. You did the loving thing by ending her suffering. My mother is fond of saying that if there were no animals in Heaven, it wouldn't be all that good of a place, so they must be there for it to be called Heaven. May you and Donna see her again, but not too soon my friends. You still have more love to give to friends, family, and of course more animals. None will ever replace her, but the hole in your hearts can be filled. You're used to giving that love, so don't let it go to waste for too long. You'll know when the time is right to welcome another.

A Golden Goodbye

I sit and try to write the words, I want your heart to hear.
Hoping to find some comfort, in the fact that your not here.
I look out into the open field, that you once occupied,
Knowing now that field is empty, because my love, you've died.
I do believe with all my heart, that your soul has gone to be,
With all the other angel dogs, that you were meant to see.
We will have to stay behind, until God calls us too,
So do not be afraid, that he's only called for you.
The water is still, in the pond that you played,
And your bed is so empty, where your pretty head laid.
Our bed is to empty, where you once laid between,
the two people who LOVED you and now only dream,
That one day our eyes will shut one last time,
and you will come greet us, angel of mine.
Until then, I'll keep trying to see through my tears,
with memories you left us, to reflect through the years.
We'll never forget one minute we spent,
of loving and laughing, of places we went.
And I dread the day that your scent disappears,
for it's "proof" to me, Star, that you were just here!
But one day will come, when we'll start to see through,
the pain of the moment, and remember just "you".

Coe that was a great poem. Mike and Donna i'm so sorry for your loss.We lost jollyroger back in 08 and there not a week that goes by that i look at corky and see jollyroger.I think of jollyroger each time i mow the grass around the tree i buried him by.I have never been a dog person until that bundle of joy. It took almost two years before we let a dog back into our life and when i got corky for the family for christmas it was awesome.good luck and godspeed........Chris
