It is a tough decision but it is best for Star not to suffer. We went throught the same thing with Mercedes, 15 year old Cocker Spaniel. It was the hardest on Kim, but she knew it was best for Mercedes. Good luck with the hard decision and we will be thinking of you and Donna.Allen Pere

My heart goes out to you and Donna. Having to put a family pet down is one of the hardest things a person will have to do his/her entire life. In 25 years I had to put down 2 family pets and our 13 year old beagle "Lucky" is graying and starting to slow down a little. I don't think I'll have any more pets after this one. God bless Star.

Had a rough night with her. She would not fall asleep and just kept trying to sit up and then fall over.
Prayers to you both for this hard decision, but please do not let her suffer. And yes, they are like part of the family. Never easy to do anything like this. My heart goes out to yall.

mike...that is so sad. i couldnt make that decision. i think i would lay with her and try to comfort her soul as much as mine own soul.

Hope it all works out Mike. We went through the same problem with our Aussie and it wasn't easy, but time will eventually heal if the inevitable has to happen. We have lots of pictures and memories of Cobber and although we have moved on to another "family member" we will always remember the good times we had with that nutty dog.Originally posted by Explorer21 View PostThanks for all the prayers folks! She is hanging in there, but I think we just need to let her go. Donna is trying everything not to let that happen, but it is really starting to hurt me see her not be able to walk for more then a few steps before falling over.
GGF, you are 100% right!Don't be a Nancy!
If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!

We've fostered and cared for over 30 dogs over the years. Each one has a special place in our memory. We tend to remember their happiest times; puppyhood stumbles, squirrel hunts, cricket pouncing, running dreams, etc. Starr and your family will be in our prayers. At his baptism, Sam Houston was told his sins were washed away. He reportedly replied, “I pity the fish downstream.” - Nov. 19, 1854 - Independence, Texas

To all,
Thanks again for all the prayers and thoughts! We have made the decision to lay her to rest today at 4:00. This has been a really hard day so far and I don't see it getting better. I am 6'6" and I think I am strong, but this is killing me!!! I know I am going to cry on the way there and thru the whole process.
GOD SPEED STARR, I WILL ALWAYS THINK OF THE GOOD TIMES WE HAD!
