  • Need Prayers for our 16 year old dog

Some of you have met our 16 year old dog named Starr. She is one of two dogs that we have and they are children to Donna and I since we don't any two legged ones.

The reason I am posting this thread is to ask for everyone prayers for Starr because he is not doing great and we found out today that she might have had a stroke. Donna and I have a hard decision to make in the next few days and words of encouragement would be welcomed!

I have attached a picture of our girl. This picture was taken a few days ago, she looks great, but really she is not.

Sad to say, I lost my Chocoate Lab (Bagwell) last year, Dogs just don't live long enough Mike. Bags had a stroke and kept having seizures after, very sad to see them suffer. Tell Donna I am so sorry ya'll have to go thru these times.

Prayers sent. Had to make a similar decision a little over a year ago and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Really feel for you.

So sorry to hear about Starr, sometimes we know what is best for them but it can sure be hard. I had to make the decision for my yellow lab Scout last December. Bless you and Donna and be glad you have had Starr's love for 16 years, and she will be in your memories and hearts for years to come.

Starr is such a sweet girl. It is a curse upon us that our dogs do not last as long as we do. May you both have the strength to decide when it is time to let her go. One poem that has always given me solace in these times is about the Rainbow Bridge. I've reprinted it here below. If you think it will offer any comfort to Donna, please have her read it. As a guy in y'all's situation, where my 4 legged babies are my only children, it makes a difference to me. My the Lord bless you both with comfort in this time of need. Y'all are both such wonderful people and it shows in the love you give your animals. - Sandy

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."
