I use MAXIMA ultragreen now, but had been using P-LINE evolution. Both are good, 12 # test mono. I don't like braid. Sure, it has it's advantages, but you have to learn to work your lures differently with braid , and then going back to mono it puts you off rhythm and you have to try to get in the groove again. years ago I got a spinner to flip out to flounder. I had more line twist and birdnests and more trouble spooling the darn thing that I threw it away. You have to learn the baitcaster and still have a majic thumb even with the new brakes and tension knobs. It's also a manner of pride- TEXANS wading and using baitcasters - yee-ha !! Besides, COACH, a lot of D..N Yankees use spinner reels !!

well, here's 2 more cents. Not that many occasions that you really need a lure to move super fast to catch a trout, redfish, or especially a flounder. Though I supose that if you fork up a cast you could retract it really quick.....or maybe you could reel them in faster you're catching so many that you arms are sore.

I'm with Steve on this one, I will work a bait fast, but reel slow. The only time i see the advantage is if the fish is running at you after the hookup, and you need to catch up with it. Other than that, really no need.

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

I had never fished with a lopro baitcaster until the citica a bought a month ago. Sure, the first day I had some birds nests, but NEVER had to spend another second having to deal with big nasty birds nests caused by working topwaters with a spinning reel.

If you're getting nests with a spinner, you're doing something wrong. 2 things that can go wrong that are easy to avoid. 1) Do NOT reel when your drag is going out. 2) Do not close the bail with the reel handle. Do it manually.

Another problem is people twisting the line when spooling them. Do NOT throw the spool of line in a bucket and reel it in. It's got to come off straight over the top.

I forgot one of my favorite things about the Daiwas. this allowed me to teach people that have never thrown baitcasters in their life within a matter of minutes. The magnetic control is a dial on the outside of the reel, no opening your reel side plate while on the water. here's another soft testimonial: Anyone around here ever heard of Jay Watkins? Rockport Guide, won every tournament known to man in the state of Texas. Booked more days of the year than any other guide in the state. Take a look at the hat he wears in pictures. Last few that I saw said Team Daiwa on them. Biggest problem with me working with them for 6 years was that they don't want to spend the money that Shimano did to build the name in saltwater.
