  • SLP Toll Bridge

Has anyone driven across lately? The last time I went over there it was still free. Just curious if the got the booth up and running again. Just wondering if I should bring some change for the next trip to titlum via SLP county park launch.

I think it'll be free for quite some time. We've been through there probably 25 times since Ike and there has been no change at all to the booth. I doubt that they even consider re opening it back up at least until they get Blue Water Hwy reopened.

What Mike said. It looks completely operational, but there's nobody in there. I stop anyway just to be sure.

Me too. After those bridge trolls get paid there can't be that much profit.

And they "seem" to not be able to count-if you give them a $10 bill, you usually get back 7 $1 dollar bills especially when traffic is behind you-I think they are the richest county employees in the entire state-no receipts to verify how many cars actually cross-I am hoping to get that job when I'm near retirement age-a/c, sattlelite tv, more money and tax free cause "miscounting". Bastages they are. Glad their stinkin cat got shot!!!

I really dont mind paying a buck. Its not just about paying the bridge off. Its more about maintenance. A few years ago they actually sandblasted the entire outside of the bridge to make it look better from the water. Like the tollway in houston. It is a nice bridge though. Actually you can buy a bunch of tokens and save yourself some money if you use it frequently. Well maybe once they start charging again! And yes there is cat food to be bought!

Unclehandy-it's $2-sometimes $3 if you don't count your change. More than once they've tried to steal from me and others I know. Yes, I agree the maintenance was needed to get the dang graffilthy off the bridge-I think they've blasted it once in 20 years. That bridge has paid for itself many times over. I've tried to hit those cats, but they jump out of my way!!!

It has always been $1, I make sure to have a single ready before I get there. It they are charging you $2, you are getting scammed! Unless something has changed that I didnt know about. I crossed just before Ike.

Damn, I must have been gettin hooked up! Actually there was this big ordeal about the cats out there a few years back. An avid BOI bird watcher was at SLP and saw one of those cats catch a bird. He shot the cat! The guy in the toll booth chased him down in his car and reported the plates. There was some big thing about it in the Galveston newspaper. The dude in the booth has been fined before for feeding the cats.

                            check out those two articles!

I remember all that. That was some funny stuff.
The toll actually changed to $2 about the time they started reworking the bridge, and thats been for a couple years. They were hooking you up if they was still letting you thru for a buck!
