    Coe

This crabber has traps strategically placed at drop-offs and sloughs along shallow coves.....exactely wher wade fisherman like to be. Not to argue your point, but he needs to understand that picking traps in popular coves at 7 or 8 am on weekends is no bueno! I don't know how often you fish these coves, but if you do it long enough you'll know what Smacker is talking about. He absolutley has the right to place these traps where he wants, but discretion is the better part of valor. He should pick up later in the day.

If he has pizzed off that many folks with his crazy antics I'm sure this guy is carrying concealed. I would not want to step on his 8 balls.

Been dealing with him for over a decade. He's an *******, nothing we can do. And I believe he picks then up early on weekends on purpose, I guess the meth buzz is wearing off and he needs more crabs to sell to go score.

I think everyone has had a run in with this guy. There is a repectful way to pick up pots when there are fisherman near them. I understand he is making a living but he is an accident waiting to happen. The biggest problem I had with him was I was wading a bayou drain on the south shore and I was maybe 15 feet from his pot. I was wearing a bright colored shirt so I know he saw me. He came flying in on plane and did not shut down till he was on top of the trap. the wake crashed over my head as I was in about chest deep. I said he man did you not see me here? He told me to get the f out of his way. As he was pulling out I bounced my jig off his cowling. He stopped and said next time he would run me over. We exchanged some choice words and he took off. You guys be careful if you see him. Can't we all just get along.

wow, he sounds like a total richard. i've never had any encounters with this guy.
set up a date and everybody hide one or two of his traps and clean him out. we should be able to cover all the coves. crab boil afterwards!!

Everyone pick a cove and drag all of the crab traps to the shore... Every time he puts a crab trap in a cove remove it... Its simple learn to play nice with the wadefishing public or we hit you in the pocket book... I come from the handle it school if you have a problem.......... Solve your problem... Its simple, if he dont have crab traps to check he has no busness in the south shore coves... Vote him off the island... LOL Just a tryin to help out... Play nice or don't play...

I guess I have been lucky so far with this guy. He has always stayed his distance from me. If I was ever wading 15' away from his trap and he came in on plane like that and crashed waves into me like that or a member of my party it would be "game over" for him. I ain't about to play with that crap!!!!!!

You're a big dude but remember like a previous poster said..."He has had so many run-in's with previous waders and still he just don't care." He probably is crazy from the heat and packing, so think twice and be careful.

This is new info to me and I find it to be outrageous. As Mechelle mentioned, a huge FWE crab boil could be the answer (Along with some side cutters to make escape holes for the crabs)

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

Aqua Pimp, it took everything I had to not walk over to his boat and climb over his gunnel and smack him in the face. After a deep breath I realized I was in chest deep water with a soupy mud bottom with waders on. My boat was about 100 yds away. If the situation was different it would have turned ugly. Although he is very aware of what I think of him and his crabby operation. I am just saying ha
Becareful and good luck if you do see this guy. he is a real piece of work.

His name is Rusty and he's been around for years as someone said. I've never had a problem with him either. I always wave when I see him in a cove. If I happen to be wading near a trap or two he just by passes those and comes back later on his way in.
I understand the frustration, but it works both ways......

BTW he watches his traps with binoculars when he has poaching problems. He is a little unhinged and I'm not so sure he wouldn't shoot somebody!

This ain't no sht... My neighbor and I put out 6 traps for a crab boil. We went to pull them up an hour before dark and as we were getting the last one I see him out of nowhere be-lining for us, he pulled onside our boat and looked inside. I thought he was about to board but I stepped between him and our boat. (He would have got clocked right back into the water). I asked him "what can I do for you, or do you have a problem". He said "I was just checking... been a lot of poachers out and I wanted to make sure those weren't my traps.

I left a lot out and he could have approached nicer but I can almost understand that incident but I can't understand the disrespect to fishermen space and safety. If you're responsible for your wake to other boats then you're responsible to your wake to waders. Same principle as to cars, where a bicycle has the same rights, and a pedestrian has the right of way.

I bet if he were on video with his antics there could be some pressure placed on him from law enforcement.
