No beer

For the past 4 or 5 years I have rented a house in Sea Isle for vacation time. Its pretty much the same routine every year. Fish in the morning then hangout after that. Sometimes we go to the beach to show JT how to throw washers and horeshoes and drink a few beers. This year I be damned if a Galveston police officer didn't pull up and write me a warning ticket for drinking a beer. Said there was no beer allowed on the beaches on the West end. I really didn't know this. The cop was really cool about it and said it has always been a law there but there just now enforcing it. The guy I was throwing shoes with was issued a warning citation aswell. Needless to say the horeshoes were picked up and we went back to the house to throw some shoes Just a heads up.

W00T?! You can't drink beer on a public beach?! I've sat and had conversations while surf fishing drinking beers etc with Jamaica Beach cops... Maybe they are enforcing an open container law in which case you should pour your alcoholic beverage into a foam cup

I use to drink beer all the time there in cans..... I think about two years ago Jt and myself even had conversations with them while drinking a beer. Saturday I got out of the truck, set up the shoes, popped the first one open, and then the next thing I know GPD pulls up in a Kawaski Mule and writes me a warning. He said it has always been a law there just never enforced. He also told me that alot of the high and mighty home owners there were complaining the the GPD chief and wanted them to start enforcing it. Like I said the cop was very nice and polite and told me everyone was getting warning citations on Saturday unless they were drunk.

I believe its been that way for sometime just not enforced unless you're on the seawall then it always was, but what a crock....guess its over the Pass bridge and Sams Beach from now on!
