  • Sea Isle/SLP -- Offshore Boat

Folks -- I have a house on the west end in Sea Isle and am considering a 25ft boat for nearshore/offshore fishing. I have three concerns related to fishing out of Sea Isle or SLP.

    1. Gas -- Sounds like Sea Isle Marina is installing gas tanks. Does anyone have any updates on this?
    2.

You only listed one, but they should have the gas anytime now. JT (new owner) can answer.

If your considering purchasing then gas tanks will be installed & operational by then.

2 or 3 would be the route you take probably to SLP right? Well contact "Robalo" here on the website he has it marked and we'll be running out there as soon as the seas calm down.

Harborwalk has gas on water. (North side) I'm sure you know where it is.

        Corrected Post

Sorry for the screw up on the first post:

Here's what I meant to ask:

        1. Gas -- Any update on gas at Sea Isle?
        2. Sea Isle launch -- How is the Sea Isle property owners' launch for a 25' boat? I've used the launch for my 17' Mako and it has been challenging at times. Also, can you run the pass in a 25' boat at low tide?
        3. SLP launch -- I understand it is silted in significantly. Has anyone run a big boat our of there at low tide recently?

        Thanks,

        Gumbo

Gas... 2 to 3 more weeks
Sea Isle property ramp can be tough on low tides but alot better than the Sea Isle marina ramp. 1 to 2' below normal you should be ok in a 25' boat.
25' boat will be fine at the pass on a low tide aslong as you stay in the channel. You get out of the channel your done. Take it easy the first few time until you have it down.
Not sure about the SLP launch, last time I was there it was pretty shallow, and that was on a normal tide in my 24 footer.

The State Park ramp on Follet Island I would not launch from with a big boat @ low tide. The channel hugs the left side and you will kick up sand so be prepared to raise up the engines hug the docks on the South side of the cut all the way to Cold Pass.

AP -- Thanks for the quick response.

Hopefully deal on the boat works out. If so, will send it to Custom Marine Concepts for some rigging and be down around Memorial Day to chase the fish.

Also, the entrance to Sea Isle is getting shallow. On low tides you half to idle out about a 1/4 mile to jump up on plane. In a bay boat that requires 2' to jump on plane you better jump up right out of the canal or you will half to idle out. On a real low tide you will have problems

I've seen some pretty big boats launch out of the KOA camp in SLP. Last summer the Hooters 38' Fountain with quad 300's launched out of there to go offshore.
I work just enough to pay for my fishing habit.

Is the Isla Del Sol channel any better? Worst case, can idle down there if it is OK.

Will check into a slip. Thanks.
