I am pleased to inform you that the Jack E. Wilson Endowment for Books of Humor (UH) has been invited to join together with the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication Alumni Association (UH) in holding its fourth Annual Fishing Tournament, the Cougar Saltwater Open, on Saturday, May 8th, 2010 at the Galveston Yacht Basin in Galveston, TX. Funds raised from this event will benefit the University of Houston’s School of Communication Alumni Association’s scholarship program for future and current undergraduate students, as well as, general alumni programs including the Jack E. Wilson Endowment for Books of Humor.
Jack E. Wilson, Welcome W. Wilson, SR (brothers), and Jack J. Valenti were Class Mates at the University of Houston, Business Partners, and Friends
By attending the Cougar Saltwater Open, there are a variety of ways to help support these students, plus receive benefits for your business:
• Become a Title, Cougar, or Red Sponsor. Descriptions of benefits are listed on the attachment titled “Sponsorship.” Filling out the attachment titled “Registration Form” will secure your spot.
Our Goal is to attain one (1) $5,000 Title Sponsor (only 1), five (5) $2,500 Cougar Sponsors, ten (10) $1,000 Red Sponsors (corporate or individual sponsors), and 120 fishermen/fisherwomen/children. If we all pull together, we can achieve this charitable Goal. Your help is graciously needed and very kindly appreciated. **All Sponsorships are aimed to be in by April 23rd.
• Donate a raffle item valued at $100 or more. You’ll be listed as a generous donor on signage at the event for each item donated. Mark your interest on the response form, titled “Auction Raffle Donation” (attachment), turn in, and a member of the committee will contact you.
• Donate collateral items to support the event. You can also donate items, such as paper goods, food, beer, entertainment, ice, etc.
• Attend the Awards Dinner on May 8. An Awards Dinner will be held that evening, recognizing the Tournament Champions and this year’s Scholarship Recipients.

Jack E. Wilson, who is my Grandfather and my Biggest Inspiration, whole heartedly enjoyed vacationing in Galveston, boating, fishing, bird watching, great humor, robust political engagement, historical referencing, cooking, West Galveston Island resort developer, his band, and playing the piano. More importantly he was a family man that always took the time to organize fun times for everyone he was around.
The Cougar Saltwater Open would be a great choice for family and friends to get together and continue to build those important memories. Let’s begin the tradition in honor of Jack.
Invite and bring, as many friends and family, as you would like and I hope to see all of you at the Cougar Saltwater Open!
