It looks like the water should warm up pretty good this week. I was thinking about staying close to home to get the prep work done for the family coming in to town. I am taking my uncle fishing on Tuesday. He doesn't wade, and I am not sure if he has ever fished saltwater before and seriously doubt he fishes any artificials. So Tuesday I will have to stay close to the house with him. Anyways I am debating whether it will be good enough to run West again on Sunday, or should I stay close and scout some places out. Looks like the wind will be very light out of the NW and an outgoing tide. What do you guys think?

Go west young man......you can always soak bait in the Channel on Tuesday! You don't need to scout for that. The water in the coves should still be pretty warm in the Coves and you know where else I would point you.sigpic

Trinity
FP10 we were killing this time last year up in Trinity from the spillway to Jacks Pocket on light NW winds, not sure about how much fresh water is up there now, but we hammered trout and reds on several trips in early march last year, usually 2 days after the fronts would blow through.
Its kind of a long run from the Kemah bridge but its easy to get to and you can wade or drift. You just want the wind to be less than 10. As with most Galveston fishing its better during the week; it can't be anymore of a parking lot than upper Wbay is this time of year.

We were killing them on top this time last year also, but the water is not nearly as warm now as it was last year. I could launch at Thompsons and run it, but I have not heard anything from up there. Actually now that I think about it they are probably killing them up there since there are no reports.

I was thinking the same thing no reports usually is a clue...on cloudy days last year they would hit tops all day...fat 3-5 pounders...then switch to plastics and limit on the reds in a little deeper water...I may visit the area soon, will post when I go. Never been to Thompsons always made the run from Kemah...

Jeremy:
I would soak shrimps near a geotube by Dana's (mouth) or near the deep hole or channel in Starvation or drift Confederate. Maybe even near the reefs in front of Campbell's. My $.02. I be a shrimp fisher and with your uncle, that's what I'd do/try. I use a popping cork (the ones with mono-never the wire jobs, then I cut the mono about 8" below cork, throw away the stupid clasp and tie a barrel swivel and then tie an 18" leader of 20# test to a #8 treble). Good luck-always nice to introduce family to fishing."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. The river is still high and pumping out 40,000 Cubic feet of water / second at least that's the last time I checked it was.Originally posted by OR19 View PostFP10 we were killing this time last year up in Trinity from the spillway to Jacks Pocket on light NW winds, not sure about how much fresh water is up there now, but we hammered trout and reds on several trips in early march last year, usually 2 days after the fronts would blow through.
