Tom and Mike I have been lurking and watching the 2cool debates for some time. Knowing both of you as honorable men, I can see both sides. But since I stay in the shallow end of the pool, I have not had an opinion until today.

I believe this is part of Washington’s Divide and Conquer tactics to take over our water s and our very way of life.

This will not just be a deep water issue. Once the first domino falls the rest will follow.

Whether you are deep, shallow, commercial, rec, fresh or salt, now is the time to get informed. We will all have to stick together on this.

I am not saying , “The sky is falling.” but I can see the writing on the wall if we don’t stand together on this.

Just like you, I am trying to make a living doing something I truly love. I see this as a domestic threat to my (our) way of life.

Thanks for filling in my missing info. I know one thing, if the Feds are involved and it will affect recreational fisherpersons, it cannot be good and the only way to get anything changed is by ACTION. Sitting on your azz will do NOTHING. I'm certain the email list of contacts should be to all Texas Members of the House of Representatives (I listed the Senators); however, that would be a long, time consuming post and although FWE is not a huge site, we certainly can make our voice heard through the members-a single cry is better than being mute and watching OUR rights disappear because of leftist radical animal rights groups such as PETA, WWF and the other "Al Gore Idiots" of the world-all in the name of so-called "Conservation" and that other word "GREEN". People will swallow any BS crammed down their mouth and WE need to react and act. Not because I dislike BHO, but because it affects ME and my fishing.

Think about it, most of us have probably an average of $50,000+ spent on fishing (boats, tackle, rods, reels, bay/beachhouses, fish camps) and I don't want some jerkazz in Washington DC telling me where and when and what I can fish for. Dammit I am really thinking that I may become an illegal alien in reverse (move to Mexico just to get away from this Gummint).

I have been paying attention to the debates over sector separation of our Snapper fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico. I can see both sides of this emotional issue. But since my living is derived from the inshore fisheries, I have not had an opinion until today.

I am trying to make a living doing something I truly love. I consider myself and most anglers,"Stewards" of our resources. And yet some Washington Bureaucrat knows better than we do?

I see this as a domestic threat to my (our) way of life.

As an officer in the US Army, I took an oath to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. These action are a domestic threat to my liberties as an American.

What do you plan to do to alleviate the increased job loss/unemployment due to closing areas (inland and offshore) to fishing and where will all the newly unemployed folks, (those folks working at bait camps, tackle factories, sports outlets, boat mfg., boat dealers, mechanics, guides, sporting goods stores, etc.) going to find jobs if the Obama Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce closes recreational fishing in certain areas?

These closures will likely be heavily influenced by radical animal rights groups such as PETA and WWF? How will you sustain housing markets along coastal and lake areas due to declined property values which will be adversely affected by such Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce brought about by Obama? Why is no economic consideration being considered under his "Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce"? Why do PETA, WWF and other animal rights groups so heavily influence the decisions of Jane Lubchenco of NOAA? What about the effect or say of many millions of fisherpersons opposing this agency and its policies? I look forward to your response.

I heard Rush talking about this today. He went off on the president and his left wing agenda. He was curious to see how the sports media would feel about baning fishing and believes they will agee with the president. He stated 60 million people in america would be affected by banning fishing.

I knew SLP would close.. As soon as the development went in you had a new HOA complaining about wanting a "private or designated beach area" so now we have pilings that prohibit motorized vehicles from traveling down the beach front.
