This shouldn't surprise anyone. Everyone should know by now our Supreme Ruler could care less about what us mere subjects think about anything!

I voiced my objections - which apparently were ignored and then trashed by the government. I would like to know how we can form a recall of this POTUS and his entire crooked administration. I have never seen such a blatant disregard for rights and attempt to take away freedoms. Yes, GW Bush amended the Magnuson-Stevens Act, but he also recognized that recreational fishing provided economic sense and created jobs. PETA and groups like them are leftist fringe groups that play on the typical ignorance of people-just look at Pam Anderson-yep she's a freaking genious-if it wasn't for her "enhancements", she'd be a crack ho likely living on Hollywood Blvd. doing "johns" for $5-but folks think PETA is about fur seal pups-they are BS-just check out what "Sea Kittens" are and also see the BS video they made of some guy tossing a kitten to fish hooked on a line-that's what sells to the average, moronic joe public and that's why this BHO person is in office-because people are sheep and sheep get slaughtered by lions for food. We need to EACH strongly voice our objections and resentment of this crapola or STFU and pawn our rods/reels/boats and eat soylent green for dinner.

Guns are next boys and girls.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I urge all to write Obama, your Senators and Representatives letters and emails and ask what they plan to do with the increased job loss/unemployment due to closing areas (inland and offshore) to fishing and where are all the newly unemployed folks, (those folks working at bait camps, tackle factories, sports outlets, boat mfg., boat dealers, mechanics, guides, etc.) and the affected housing markets along coastal and lake areas due to declined property values are going to do? Ask why no economic consideration is being considered under his "Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce"? Ask why PETA is having more effect or say than many millions of fisherpersons?

Really Jeremy? I strongly suggest you read the article Coe posted. Further, if you had read earlier posts regarding this "agency" and sent emails (which were "canned" and ready to send), you may believe the article. It basically says we (fisherpersons) were bullchitted and they are ignoring our comments as well as the economic impact closure of fishing as to areas will have on the entire economy.

Do you not remember how Red Snapper rules have been affected in the last 5-10 years? Or that some states (Florida -you know, where the Bucs play and Calinutsinfornia) have closed areas to all fishing and the Feds are planning that as well. The NMFC and Gulf Coast Council have been taking away recreational fishermen's rights for years and until we as a group act, we will be the runt of the litter and pushed away from the teat and starve to death. I am somewhat amazed at your post and expect fishermen to be informed of new policies and laws affecting us. Not all laws are bad, but folks like WWF and PETA have every stupid idiot in over half the US believing they are saving "baby fur seals" or just "whales" from terrible slaughter, when in fact such groups are radical anti-fishing groups-go to the PETA website and look up "Sea Kittens"-PETA absolutely hates fisherpersons-period. Wake up and act. Now teach our Senators and Representatives that this agency is bad news to the economy and must be stopped or at least TRULY listen. That boat and trailer you own may have to be driven a long ways to fish in a very small, tightly crowded spot soon.

                  a quote from the article

Additionally, Lubchenco and others in the administration have close ties to environmental groups who would like nothing better than to ban recreational angling. And evidence suggests that these organizations have been the engine behind the task force since before Obama issued a memo creating it last June.

Speaking up does no good we have to vote against him.

Ok, turn in your guns along with your fishing equipment then. If you don't voice your objection, then there is no voice.

You can simply copy this statement below and paste to the links below-you also can add your own personal message, such as

"If you support the Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce as set up by Obama, you will not be getting my vote, nor any of my friends votes in your next election. Please do whatever you can to stop this agency from affecting recreational fishing. After all, fishing is a family-oriented activity and binds and shares ties within the family"

Here is an example for copying and pasting to the contact links listed below-it takes maybe all of 5 minutes to do and you will likely receive a letter back from each saying they hate it also, but no voice is equal to being dead or jacknifed in a boat ramp while 20 people beotch at ya.

                    EXAMPLE: COPY AND PASTE:

What do you plan to do to alleviate the increased job loss/unemployment due to closing areas (inland and offshore) to fishing and where will all the newly unemployed folks, (those folks working at bait camps, tackle factories, sports outlets, boat mfg., boat dealers, mechanics, guides, sporting goods stores, etc.) going to find jobs if the Obama Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce closes recreational fishing in certain areas (which such area closures will likely be heavily influenced by radical animal rights groups such as PETA and WWF)? How will you sustain housing markets along coastal and lake areas due to declined property values which will be adversely affected by such Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce brought about by Obama? Why is no economic consideration being considered under his "Interagency Ocean Policy Taskforce"? Why do PETA, WWF and other animal rights groups so heavily influence the decisions of Jane Lubchenco of NOAA? What about the effect or say of many millions of fisherpersons opposing this agency and its policies? I look forward to your response.

                    Thank you,

You have until Friday the 12th to submit comments, and I think you should if you are concerned about the lack of recognition of recreational boating in the US. I just don't see that in the September 2009 document, no recognition at all.

What's this all about? We this first pass is at an extremely high policy level, and is notable for a complete lack of concrete things. The draft document discusses "ecosystem management" and "science-based decisions" but really doesn't say what they heck that is. I can tell you one good reason for unifying the ocean policy - because it is split among dozens of federal agencies that each do their own thing, such as NMFS, MMS, EPA, USCG, Corps of Engineers, and so forth, not to mention regional and state commissions.

Now that's a good thing, because all these agencies were acting like little Medieval fiefdoms. But the hidden message is what they're not saying:
                        • Use the task force to promote climate change policy
                        • require "catch shares" for fishermen of all kinds
                        • Commercialize offshore lands for royalty leases and taxes
                        • Increase privatized offshore aquaculture
                        • Ban all lead weights and lures
                        • create no-man's-land areas (Marine Protection Areas, MPAs)

Now to you and most of us confused fishermen, these are fighting words. If you read other forums like 2Cool, there is a running war about EDF influence, nasty catch shares, and reducing the amount of fish we can catch because (as the enviros see it) "all oceans are over-fished." The situation got so extreme, some fishermen such as at Destin actually blockaded the port! This is very serious stuff ... and just the beginning of it. =sammie
