  • How old were you when . . . .

My nephew is 11 now and I'm amazed at the things I was allowed to do at a much younger age than he is.

I got to thinking just how strange my childhood must have been, growing up with a fishing camp. I was 6 years old and in the 1st grade when I was allowed to run my own boat by myself. Dad put a mark on the throttle with a china marker and said I wasn't allowed to go past that point. It was just short of half throttle, but I learned I could get on a plane if I put a heavy ice chest in the bow. Mind you it was a 12 foot flat bottom with a 4.5 Evinrude. I also was not allowed to cross the bayou or go further back in the marsh than my dad could see me from the porch. Had to wear a PFD at all times, etc.

So how old were you when you were allowed to run a boat on your own?
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

At 17, I ate dog with my father, (I think he was my father, not real sure because my momma was a ho, err, I mean promiscuous), in Indonesia and at 18 became a Community Organizer-I really wanted to be a Community Organ Grinder because I like Monkeys but was confused between the difference and was mixed up-musta been all that dope I smoked. At 26 I ran for State Senator in a predominantly poor section in Chicago after working at ACORN and later became a Nobel Prize winner for doing nothing. I tell folks I'm an expert in Constitutional Law but ignore the Constitution every chance I can. I fool dummies all the time and laugh at how they continue to believe every word I say after they've caught me lying soooo many times. I am a Socialist, Racist and former member of the Communist Party and think The Weather Underground shoulda blown up more gummint buildings and still got elected-just shows how stupid people really are. Then I hung out at The Sand Bar and learned that life is best when fishing, drinking and enjoying good BS Conversation with fishermen. Not all fishermen are liars, but that 1% that isn't a liar never catches any fish. Tite lines.

Oh, this was about a boat-I run using one eye after being at The Sand Bar because if I use two eyes, there seems to be 2 main canals/channels.

"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I was 10 on Lake of the Pines. Had to wait until 12 for Caddo Lake b/c you had to know the channels where they aren't marked.

I was 8 before they trusted me to go up the creek behind the house on Lake Livingston bass fishing in my uncles boat - bought my first boat all for myself at 12 for 250 bucks. Had one ever since.
                      Shut up and FISH!!

Robalo married his lst cousin at 12; and therefore, his folks let him have a Bote to take her around since he didn't have a DL.
