  • Millions Of $$$$ Worth Of Sand Gone In A Day

I hope you got to see the great "sand boondoggle" starting at 61st. in Galveston. It looked really cool for about a month. I can guarantee it's mostly all gone now. What a great business, beach replenishment. You can sell sand and get paid for hauling it, or pay $$$ for a monster dredge to pump it, and when it washes right away you can start all over.

i do like the idea of the pump vs digging pits on the west end.

Which direction is the rip running? The west end or east end will get more beach now lol

We did a beach nourishment project at work early this year as a condition of a dredging permit. We pumped sand onto 1000 feet of beach out to 400 feet. Looked great till the first high tide windy day. Within 2 weeks it was all gone and looked just like we'd never spent 2 million dollars doing it.

Just to dredge in front of your house?

I wish they'd dredge in front of my house. This was in the Freeport harbor channel. The nourishment was on Quintana beach.

                I was wrong. It's just 1/2 to 2/3rds gone. I'm really surprised.
