So while I was home for Christmas, I met up with an old girlfriend of mine from high school. She gave me back my Atari 7800. She borrowed it 23 years ago! I can't believe she kept it. It even survived Katrina in her attic! With all this bad weather, I reckoned I'd hook it up and take a trip to yesteryear. DOH! Everything was in the box but the cable and switchbox. I found what I needed on amazon, and it's killing me waiting for it to arrive. For those not familiar with the 7800, it's an improved 2600. It plays all the 2600 games, plus the improved 7800 games.
Now I'd been having a lot of fun with an Atari Flashback console I keep at Mom and Dad's, but all the games on it are pretty lame. No Pitfall!, etc. I'm psyched to get back to one button gaming. Too many buttons on the newer stuff.
Anybody out there a fan of Atari? What was your favorite game? Mine has to be Pitfall!
Finally, if anyone actually has any old games lying around, I'm interested in acquiring them if I don't have them already. Though she saved the system, some of the games are missing. The one I miss the most is the 2600 version of Star Wars: The Arcade Game.
