Harvey I use corkys so much because they are so dang effective . I said once that fishing with my crew of good fishermen that I walked over to water they had been beating with plastics for 20 minutes without a HOOKSET and I started catching trout on FATBOYS . Not that plastics aren't effective . It just seems to me that corkys are often more effective . I use spoons and plastics and tops , ED Special and such . They all have a place .

John , I haven't fished with you because I just haven't been fishing . I had stuff to be done or the weather has been crummy . I'm not fishing this weekend . I'm behind on maintenance of gear and tired . Saturday I have yard guys doing major stuff I need to supervise .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. Doc , thanks so much for the link to Paul's side site there! I'm sure you just helped to put me further in debt! I love all the cool lure ideas and rarities showing up here. I have to comment on over thinking lure mods. . IMO there's no such thing unless you find yourself adding ceramic headers to them !! HAHA! even capt Kevin Cochran revises once he once thought was the only way to go so we as anglers always have to evolve on even proven methods... anyway , not trying to jack my own thread but I'm probably pretty loopy from lack of sleep waiting for tomorrow to get here so I can get to sea isle!
Reports will hopefully follow.

Now , John , I have never seen rigging a spoon backwards . With the eye and spot , the profile is exactly a shad . Very cool ! I'd like to see how the action is affected rigged that way . And I liked the other COPPER colored spoon .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

Capt. Jay Watkins wrote that he rigged his soft plastics upside down sometimes . He got strange looks from clients . He's taking us fishing and he doesn't know how to rig a soft plastic ?! He liked the action or something . There are no rules .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

Henry.....I used to use my neighbor's pool for experiments on how a lure operates underwater.....I'd sit on the bottom of the pool with my mask while he retrieved the lure, experimenting with different speeds, sink rates, retrieves, etc. That's how I finally got the hang of fishing with sinking and suspending corkies. I got the idea a few year back to turn a spoon around and see how it sank, retrieved, fluttered, etc. and I found that a straight retrieve with no twitching worked best with the spoon rigged originally since the flutter is punctuated by the broader end at the back, but it makes the lure seem to resemble a fish swimming backward and I ani't never seen a fish swim backward (that's how I got the idea to turn it around). Rigged backward only works if your desired presentation is to mimic a rising and diving baitfish, and it still flutters. The MAIN reason, I have to admit, for all this experimentation, is that my neighbor was an alcoholic and always had a case of cold beer when he was by his pool.

Chit's getting way too deep. If Johnson wanted to rig spoons backward, they'd sell 'em that way. Easy blue with the eyes and spots. Go to Marburgers and buy the Lee horsehair Bucktails. One more time, red behind gold, white, yellow, chartreuse or pink behind silver. Split ring and barrel swivel on front hole for action and no line twist. How you put it, I'm done. Quit confusing folks.
