In Houston, trying to catch up on work - headed back down on November 12. Since being here, I have been working pretty much every day with no time off. With any luck, though, I hope to get down to BR on Sunday.

One thing that I have accomplished while being up here is we bought a truck that we just shipped out. The truck is on its way to Anegada right now.

The truck left here Tuesday, and is sitting in Riviera Beach, FL right now. Should go aboard a Tropical freighter on Wednesday and be on Tortola by next weekend.

Hopefully I will be free on Sunday and meet some of you guys at Blockade Runners.

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Glad someone piped up and asked. You know Walker, I know you been busy, but you CAN post up when you're in town too. It doesn't have to be all tropical delicousness.

Curious, what is the transit time of your truck from Houston to Anegada?

End-to-end looks like it will be about three weeks. It left here Tuesday morning, and arrived at Tropical Shipping in Florida last night. It takes a couple of days for Tropical to clear it through outgoing U.S. customs. Their next ship leaving for Tortola is next Wednesday, and it takes three days to get to Tortola. So the truck should be there next Saturday (the 7th). We get to Tortola late on the 12th, so we should be getting the truck out of BVI customs on the 13th.

Then the truck has to be barged to Anegada. The barge runs once a week - usually on Tuesday or Wednesday. So the truck will finally make it to Anegada on the 17th or 18th.

Those older Taco's are Tonka toys, tuff as nails. Good choice.

I had a list of requirements for the truck:
                  • Toyota Tacoma, at least 5 years old
                  • 4 wheel drive
                  • Extended cab
                  • Over 100,000 miles
                  • 4 cylinder preferred (gas is VERY expensive on Anegada)
                  • Engine and drive train in good condition
                  • Good body condition (low rust)
                  • Bed liner
                  • Brush guard
                  • Hitch receiver
                  • No power windows
                  • No power locks
                  • White color preferred

I searched all of the online places - nationwide - and was convinced that what we were looking for was not to be found. Then, by pure chance, we stumbled upon a truck that fit every one of our specs - in Dickinson. This one is an '02, has 128,000 miles on it and has a perfect body - not a single dent and zero rust.

Knowing that it will never see a real maintenance facility again we took it in to the shop and, in addition to the Toyota 120,00 mile recommended service we have replaced almost every wear item on it: tires, brakes, battery, belts, hoses, struts, etc.

I expect it go get around 4,000 miles per year for the rest of its life and to rust before it wears out.

I did have some fun having the vinyl graphics made for it.

Oh yeah - one pic I forgot. The last thing I did before we loaded it onto the truck was put the stickers on the rear window. Check the passenger side....
