Things started before I could think about getting out there. VJER came by and got my boat at lunch on Friday. I headed back to work as he headed out. He met up with fishbobr and TMO at the ramp and they headed out. They managed to get a bunch of work done before sunset and the arrival of 2112. They didn't stick any, but for one on accident, but they had a good time. Unfortunately Bert lit out before I could see him.
They weren't quite ready for me when I called at 7:30 to pick me up. Work began soon after my arrival though. 007 and Flatoutfishin' soon arrived as well and they jumped in. Unfortunately the window Robalo provided wouldn't work, so the guys passed the hat and Bob and I headed to Lowe's in Lake Jackson and got a brand new window. I've got to thank those of you that threw in like that. Money for me has been scarce lately with so much going on, and it really helped big time. I don't like being a beggar, but I'm not above accepting the help when I need it as I know I'll be able to pay y'all back with some good times at the camp.
As soon as we got back, the boys were ready to drop the window in. VJER did a real pro job on the wall/window with a bunch of help from everyone. If anyone needs a handyman, shoot him a PM. He is meticulous in his work and very talented. I'm going to give him a paying job fixing my back porch as soon as the camp is done. I did what I do best, warming up lunch (Awesome gumbo Vic!) and go-fering. They even got the side porch finished. No more holes to have to step over! Hooray!
After all that was done, Vic tackled installing the door, which is really a great improvement. To have a bedroom with a door will be great! We were later joined by Swamp Momma and her better half, Scottie. Monte had to head in to join his friends up at Conroe. The dinner was a pot luck bonanza of wings, burgers, sausage, boiled and grilled scrimps, and boudin. No vegetarians need apply. Lights were out on the dock and some nice specks and white trout were landed. I missed most of that as I hit the sack pretty hard. Bob and Tom lit out to spend the night in luxury in Sea Isle.
The next morning we all got up around 8am and Vic started workin' right away finishing up the north wall and tweaking the door just right, along with a few other things. Bob and Tom made a short appearance to help clean up before they had to head out. Me, 007, and Scottie headed out to the Ghost Camp and did a little destroying. I called quittin' time at 2 and we headed back to the camp for some lunch and a little clean up. I shuttled Swamp Momma and Scottie back to the launch and they were kind enough to take 007 home for me. Thanks Y'all! That saved me a couple hours on the road. I'm glad they were able to get out with some good fish and a couple dozen crabs too.
Vic and I headed in right around 4pm. Sure was great to get all that done and a few things taken off the "punch list". As is my tradition, I'll list everyone who helped make it all happen this weekend. We had a great time and got some good stuff done.
VJER - Vic
TMO - Tom
Fishbobr - Bob
2112 - Bert
FlatOutFishin' - Monte
007 - Mike
Swamp Momma - Christa
Scottie
Next weekend I should see most of y'all fishing the Redfish Tournament, but if you're not, come on out. We'll be concentrating 99% on the Ghost Camp. I was hoping to have it all down by Halloween. That might not happen, but we'll see how much we get done this weekend.
Now for some pics. I'll post the ones Bob took first, then mine later. If anyone else has any pics, post 'em up. - Sandy
