Its obvious to me then that the black truck was waiting to turn left, at a complete
stop with his steering wheel already turned left. When he was slammed from the rear
it pushed his vehicle LEFT into on comming traffic. If his wheels where straight then he simply would had been shoved straight forward instead of almost causing a head on with you. Thats why it is bad pratice and I think is technicaly against the law to stop in that situation with the steering wheel cranked over before the turn is initiated.
Do you understand, had you arrived abreast of the black truck a tad later you could had been seriously injured or even killed. Instead it was a very lucky glancing blow in wich you're towed boat took the impact.

Awfull scene, but you're not injured, thankfully. It's been a bad weekend what with this and 2112's front yard crash.

that's how it happened, but why would he be at fault? just curious?Originally posted by 2112 View PostI hate that kind of stuff.
I picture in my minds eye that you are coming the opposite direction and the black truck is waiting on you to make his left hand turn and he is stopped with his wheels turned left and just as you are about to go past he gets rear ended and is pushed into you're oncomming trailer...is that how it happened? If so he will be partly at fault as well as the Explorer that hit him.

WOW....I am just glad you were a few seconds early or you might have been seriously injured also. The boat is replaceable and I hope you get it taken care of.

Yep, I keep my $500 boat in the car port and my $22,000 truck in the driveway.Originally posted by Nwilkins View PostHappy everyone is okay, I'd rather my truck get wacked than my boat. Hopefully your insurance gets it resolved and a new boat comes from it.
Glad nobody was hurt Michelle. I sure hope things work out well with the insurance company. Hate to see a boat taken down like that.

Holy Crap!!! Sure glad everybody was ok. Makes my stomach hurt seeing that beautiful boat sitting on the road like that!! My father-in-law lost his whaler in an accident. Trailer came off of the truck and the boat and trailer rolled across the highway and split itself in half on a telephone pole. When I showed up at his house at about 6am he was sitting in the driveway drinking beer and crying!! He had no insurance!! Hope everything turns out for the best. Maybe you'll get a brand new rig out of the deal.

Wow, That's amazing no-one was hurt. It looks like those vehicles are worst off than your boat. Hopefully they will total it and you can get a new one. In the meantime you're welcome to fish with me.

what's left of my boat and trailer
i was in an accident sunday afternoon on 2004. a truck was stopped and going to turn left and was rear ended by and explorer. the truck was driven into my lane and i was able to swerve to the shoulder and avoid my truck being hit but my boat and trailer weren't so lucky. the truck hit the trailer and broke it in half. it was mangled. my boat stayed w/ the front half of the trailer that was still attatched to my truck so i drug the boat about 150 yards down 2004. the skeg is gone, the prop mangled. the boat has a large crack in the side and lots of road rash from what i can see. i'm hoping they total the whole thing. it was taken to a wrecker storage till i can talk to the insurance people. anybody ever go thru anything like this ? any advice?
thankfully, nobody was seriously injured.
