I posted her some time ago about a planned trip to the area of the Pass (Treasure Island beach house rental third week in August), and, I was grateful for the several responses about how to fish the place.
Initially, the week rental was to be just me, the wife, my Aggie Son (starting junior year in Fall) and the shepherd. Now, I've learned that my Son may bring as many as 10 fellow Aggies with him for at least a day or so during the middle of our stay. All but one of them, his intended roommate at A&M this coming year) are completely unfamiliar with salt water fishing and recreation. So, I'm worried about them having free reign at the Pass.
Rather than go around lecturing the ADULTS when each one arrives I thought I'd put together a little printed presentation of the dangers of the Pass, perhaps a good map or maps of the channels and guts that make the place treacherous and also some statistics of how many drownings happen there both this year and historically. But I'm having trouble finding good material for the hand-out.
I'd like to have information like that mentioned above and also tide charts and tables, estimated current strength through the pass at its fastest while we're there, the location of rescue resources and how to contact them, the relatively aggressiveness of local law enforcement towards underage drinking (they'll not be allowed to drink at the beach house but, hey, we all know college kids) and also some recommendations of good places on the beach where the college kids can party without too much interference from others and maybe from law enforcement (I don't want to spend all my time bailing them out just for drinking a beer or two).
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
If anyone's interested I'll make the handout available here on the forum when it's done.
