Does anyone know how I can test the 4 wheel drive on a used truck before I buy it?

Take it to a vacant field or you can put it on blocks, I would suggest the first a lot easier! You cant test it sitting still!!

You can tell by putting it in 4WD...drive on pavement at 15-30mph...if all 4 wheels are engaged, you can feel it in the steering wheel...harder to turn...get a feel for how the steering wheel feels in 2WD first...Comment

If it goes in four wheel drive a tight circle on pavement truck will fill likes it's in a bind out side wheel turns faster then in side wheel that's called differentialComment

Yes,my 2 you can tell turn sharp just backing out of driveway. some years Chevys have solenoid on front dif if it is not working,it will not engage the front axels even if the transfercase shifts in 4wd.Originally posted by Primer View PostComment

Bring it down to Quintana and we'll see if it can get to the MOB. If it doesn't, 4WD didn't work and you don't need it.
