I don't have a coast guard license but I wonder if it would be legal to have a bid for a guided gigging trip. Highest bidder gives money to the site and I don't make a dime.
It seems like a good idea and is currently the only contribution I can make.
I don't want to do it if I can get into trouble but since I'm not making money I think it would be ok with the law.

3 riders max in the boat including me.
Winner brings his own ice chest for fish beverages/food.
I'll pay for my operating cost so it's all volunter funds for the site
I'll go from dusk to dawn if that's what it takes to get a limit.

I pray any guides in my area understand the motivation.

Bert, you're doing this as a fundraiser for a cause, not yourself. You can't get into any sort of trouble as no money will be changing hands between you and the fishermen you take. You are just some guys going out for flounder. Nothing more. It's completely kosher.

I don't think so either but I could see it as stepping on the toes that make a living out of it so I'll try to keep this to my once a year contribution to the site.

I'd like to get a CG license and get paid doing something I love. I hear it's expensive and the exam is very hard.

I want to thank everyone who donated. As you may or may not know this site is run on donations alone and with the aid of our sponsors. Making changes, upgrading & adding new features costs money & I appreciate those that helped out.
