  • 2012 Texas Crab Trap Cleanup

"Starting Feb. 17 and continuing through Feb. 26, all Texas bays will be closed for crabbing. Any traps left in the water will be assumed to be abandoned and considered “litter” under state law. This allows volunteers to legally remove any crab traps they find."

The Houston Zoo is doing a large cleanup effort near 2004 & Chocolate Bayou. If any members from that area are interested in helping let me know. I'll be running the South Shoreline from SLP to Offats. 2nd dump site is Fat Boys for West Bay.

I plan on helping but it may be in the middle of the week. I'll be working on a project from the 17th-20th.

We can work with the Houston Zoo and help provide a means of transportation for those volunteering up there. Any individuals wanting to go alone are more than welcome.

Wow, it's been a year already. I'd be happy to help out again.

Out of curiosity, if you find a trap in great condition, could you keep it?

Mike, I'd figure you could save a lot of space if you brought along a couple pieces of plywood and flattened the traps between them. Perhaps if you had some fat arse along you could accomplish that..
