By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. That is incorrect.

I spoke with one of the owners this morning who I have known for many years. The property is owned by the same investors; however some money has come in by way of foreign investors to support the restaurant venture along with the marina. The project will probably go in two phases. The first will be the restaurant, which will be Watermans. When the restaurant construction begins, the proposed theme downstairs will be much like JT's place.....buckets of beer, shrimp, burgers, music....etc. If the engineering goes has planned, allegedly, the ramp and gas pump will be relocated to the west side of the marina. The second phase will be the marina and boat storage. Much of the proposed plans are with the owners and operators, which are now dealing with the City of Galveston. Because of Ike, building codes have been amended, consequently causing the permitting phase to be very difficult and time consuming. If all goes as they hope, this should be completed before the summer. I hope it all works out!

Robalo said to ease the pain of obtaining permits etc.... They could do what he does in the oil business; and walk into their offices with a money belt and "grease" everybody from the receptionist on up to the president. I understand that's a pretty efficient way.

Sounds like Galveston is just like New Orleans. You have to grease EVERYONE'S palm to get anything done. The corruption is so thick and set in that everyone just accepts it.

I'd bet that my place is closer staggering distance than your (Coe's) place, to the new bar. I'm willing to go in half for a field test. Robalo can be the referee.

First off, the disparaging remarks about the COG Permitting are blatantly false. They have hundreds of folks in Permits, just like the BOERME (formerly MMS) and, being Gummint employees, are thrilled and wanting to help you all they can. Everyone knows when they hear "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help." means bend over, drop your shorts and no lube allowed! just ask the FEMA guy at the Dogtrack-"Sorry, you're white, have a job and a house, no $ for you" eventhough the NFLIP Policy provides for out of pocket expenses and why the heck would the Gummint not honor their insurance policy terms while still paying for 'Trina "Victims"???

Good luck to Lafitte's Development-they will certainly need it-plan on some new trees, a little "campaign" contribution and delay after delay getting approvals and inspections-Thanks Lyda Ann and Steve!!! You were great-NOT!! Trust fund beotch and idjit.

I'll Referee-but that can be costly (beers) and won't happen until late August when they actually open!!
