I spoke with one of the owners this morning who I have known for many years. The property is owned by the same investors; however some money has come in by way of foreign investors to support the restaurant venture along with the marina. The project will probably go in two phases. The first will be the restaurant, which will be Watermans. When the restaurant construction begins, the proposed theme downstairs will be much like JT's place.....buckets of beer, shrimp, burgers, music....etc. If the engineering goes has planned, allegedly, the ramp and gas pump will be relocated to the west side of the marina. The second phase will be the marina and boat storage. Much of the proposed plans are with the owners and operators, which are now dealing with the City of Galveston. Because of Ike, building codes have been amended, consequently causing the permitting phase to be very difficult and time consuming. If all goes as they hope, this should be completed before the summer. I hope it all works out!

    Hello all..
I would like to set any rumors straight If I may...
I have skimmed through all the posts here, and the one quoted above is the most accurate, except the relocation of the fuel and ramp, which will remain at its current location.

We have a tentative soft-opening for May 1st.

As far as The Sand Bar name, which was conceived by Marion and Diane Duzich, back in 1999 when the restaurant was built, we will be keeping it the same.. everyone and there brother has named their outside establishment The Sand Bar. The West End did it 2 years ago, even Landry's @ Kemah has one.. maybe we can just rename it The Original Sandbar!!!

I made sure that email notifications were on for me here so I can keep track of this thread..

I am here to answer all questions to the best of my knowledge if it will help anyone know whats going on.

Thanks for allowing me to share.

Very cool! That's my main yak launch point (I'm in Palm Beach). It'll be my main boat launch once I get my Majek re-rigged.
