I think as long as it's put up and out of sight its ok. Now if they catch you drinking then that might be a problem.

I don't think there is a law at all. Why would there need to be. Is there a problem with driveby shootings on the bayou? I always have a pistol in my drybox. I've been checked several times at the dock and 2 of those times I was asked if I had a firearm on board. "Yes sir, it's in my drybox." Both times they asked me why I had a gun on board and I said I never go out in the wilderness without one. I also mentioned having a fishing camp out there and coyotes are always present. Both times, they went on to ask about fire extinguishers or PFDs. They never even asked to see it. And there was no mention of a CHL.

It's funny that a game warden wouldn't know what an EPIRB is.

Did a little research and it does look like your boat is considered a motor vehicle like any other and you can concealed carry w/o CHL.

I think it's a safety issue. Every time I've been pulled over in my truck, which is 4 times, they've asked if I had a gun in the car. Twice I did and it was no big deal. Once they asked to see it and I got out and allowed them to retrieve it. She dropped the clip and cleared it, took it back to the car with her and came back with it after I assume she checked to see if I had a record and also checked to see if the gun was stolen. The other time I had a rifle disassembled on the front seat and they got me out of the car to wait and get checked out. Both times it was no problem. They did treat me with more care than the other times I didn't have a gun in the car.

What is the law regarding having an open beer while operating a boat? Is it a "no open container" like it is with an automobile?

A gun follows the same rule I'm pretty sure I would have gotten into trouble... that's why I stowed everything.. He could have easily made me remove boat from water cause I didn't have tags or anything but he wanted to make sure I was safe... It was choppy and windy and I was in a small boat for those conditions

You can have an open container, you just can't be above .08 BAC!
