Well I left Houston around 10:15 to head to Baytown (Hugo PT) launched and was on water around 11AM.
Took a spin around the back marsh area started getting hot so took off the shirt to enjoy the nice day. Kicking back just having fun riding around drinking beer didn't think about how long I'd had my shirt off no sun tan lotion or anything BTW I was pale white
So decided to shake things up a bit and ran across from Hugo to I-10 bridge and the marsh North of 10. Spent maybe an hour up there and when I came out I cruised back hugging the shoreline to avoid the nasty chop from the winds across Lost Lake or Old River whatever its called as I made my way back to the boat launch.
I got drenched heading back and looked up and saw a Gulf Coast with T-Top lights came on and I shut the boat down kept it into the waves. Game Warden showed up:
GW: Where's your life jacket?
Me: Right here. (point to the gun box)
GW: Take it out your by yourself
Me: Yes sir, just running the boat for the first time just picked her up in Louisiana
GW: So its new?
Me: Yes Sir
GW: Do you have the TX ID Card and forms they gave you?
Me: No Sir. I only have the titles but they are in the car I didn't want to get them wet.
GW: So they didn't give you a TPWD Card?
Me: No Sir. I purchased it in Louisiana and I have to take everything Monday to one of your Sattelite offices.
GW: Oh, okay. Have a good day. Be safe, its dangerous out here in this boat
Me: Not to worry I have en EPIRB on board and the hull is full of floatation.
GW: (He's backing away at this point) What was that? You have a gun onboard? (He motors back to me)
Me: An EPIRB! (Yelling it now)
GW: A What? A Gun?
Me: No Sir, No Gun! I have an EPIRB
GW: What's that?
Me: It's an Electronic Position Indicating Radio Beacon. All I have to do is hit a button and the Coast Guard shows up, I use it on my off shore boat.
GW: Umm alright... Have a good one.
I had a good laugh on the wet ride back to the cut out of Hugo Point and then decided to ride around to dry off... Cruised back up to the lease and went Gator spotting found some good 10 footers!
Anyways looked down at my arm and noticed she was getting red so I put the shirt back on and headed back to launch. It was 3PM by the time I got the boat on the trailer and ready to head back to Houston. I cruised with the windows down and when I got back to the storage unit noticed my back was a little warm... Hmm that's weird the seat heater was off... I picked the dogs back up after dropping the boat off and headed back to the house.
That's when I felt it! Itching, heat etc shirt was hurting my back... I knew I had been out in the sun too long. Well I flipped the shirt off and was shocked I'm lobsterized! Apparently I didn't realize that the sun was mainly on my back! Needless to say last night was not full of sleep!
Don't forget sunscreen!!
