Live bait. Many elitists poo poo live bait, but it just plain works. It's the all natural way of fishing.

Tops and Corkies....Big tops and little tops...floaters and sinkers until you find one that works. If they are eating, you will eventually find the pattern.

Flourocarbon leader maybe if they are in clear water. If they are busting out of the water they are definately feeding. Are you wading up to them? Are they spooking when you throw at them? This time of year whatever they are eating is going to be small so maybe downsize your lure. Sometimes you have to really rip you bait through the target area also, so be sure to try that.
Keep posting up what you try and what works. Good luck!

I think the lure is too big too. Bait is really small this time of year. Try a speck rig maybe, or a mirrominnow/mirrodine.

Match the hatch! Like Boom and Milkjug said, sometimes this time of year the prefer the smaller baits. Trout are feeding on alot of small glass minnows this time of year. That Mirrominnow or Mirrodine is a good choice. Also try a small chrome/ blue back rattle trap, a smaller sized Bass Assassin in a 3 or 4" size, or a smaller topwater in a Super Spook Jr or She Pup.

                          Good Luck

Nice going. Last year when the smacks were busting tiny fry, the only thing I was able to get them to hit was a small yo-zuri crank bait. Just don't lose it... $10 lure!

i dont know what was busting the surface but i was throwing the smallest topwater i had, a super spook jr in chrome and black at something that was continuously busting the surface on little little LITTLE minnows and i couldnt get them to take it.
