So recently me and a buddy have been looking at some flats boats. Just a small little john boat to get us around when we don't feel like kayaking or it's not a very good option. We have some spots that are just too far to yak to.
I'm curious as to the best way to go about storage? My last boat I was paying around $70 a month in storage fee's - granted it was a 25' cobalt ski boat. Just got rid of the big ole thing recently but the storage fee's were really eating me alive on top of the regular engine maintenance fee's.
Does anyone have any tips for a broke college kid on storing a small (and I mean small) flats john boat? Keeping it at the house here isn't an option because the homeowners are pretty strict about having it in your driveway. Also, if anyone has extra land or something I'd be more than happy to pay you something monthly or just buy your lures/beer whatever if you'd let me put a VERY small flats boat somewhere out of the way. Wouldn't bother ya! We both live in La Porte.
Anyways, thanks in advance for the help.
PS - Tips on flats boats would be great as well. Looking to get out of this for under $3,000 (that might not be a good idea!) Currently looking on craigslist and boat trader. Just PM me if ya know of anything we could rig up for the fall/winter! I would have posted this in the boating forums but I don't see many people over there and also it's more about finding a place that's cheap not so much the boat itself.
