  • finally getting that gigging trip in this evening

I got the phone call I waited for all week from Capt. Josh earlier this afternoon. He's been on them all week, so hopefully he saved a few for this evening. It should be a hoot, considering I have never even seen it done, let alone tried it. With any luck, whole stuffed flounder will be on the menu tomorrow. This ought to be a nice change from snapper at 200 feet, 70 miles offshore and a 200 mile round trip.

Good luck and you'll have fun! The 1st time that I went with 2112 was an adventure. It's a true art navigating a boat with a fan motor.

We had a really nice time with Captain Josh. He's about the most patient guy I ever ran into, which really made things a lot of fun. I missed the saddle blanket of the evening, not but an inch, but by a good foot. Josh and I just laughed and he said it was the biggest one he had seen so far this fall and if someone is going to miss, missing it clean was the way to do it. I guess flounder don't get that big because they are dummies. I am pretty sure that flounder was laughing too as it swam off. Gigging is a lot of fun, and Josh really worked hard for us because the water wasn't in the best of shape. It was a nice evening, and I was glad to be out of this heat and even the bugs weren't bad.

Great pictures there. I see the captain likes him some bamboo gigs as do I.
I'll always remember taking 007 but Monte and TMO and Corndog will always be special for there epic falls. Who was with me when I got thrown out of the boat and all skinned-up? Ray Corn? I know Ray was with me the night I jumped out of the bow to pop a keeper and then the boat kind of ran over me, I had to push it off of me but it was worth it.

This is Corndog. He had to get out of the rig to get to this shallow water Flounder. I know it don't look it but this Flounder went 24" and to this date it is still the biggest Flounder ever taken from my rig.

Me after jumping out after a shallow Flounder and getting run over by my own boat.

Please take note of the text book head shot.

That's some great stuff, right there, for sure. My flounder is in the oven as I type, stuffed with gulf shrimp, crab meat, and chicken bread crumbs. baking at 350. You bay guys might be in trouble this fall This trip has been the best one in quite a while.

Not too shabby there Mont! 3 boats working this area tonight. Wonder how they did? Water is a bit dirty 'round the SLP complex, but the breeze is almost non-existent. No skeeters!

It sure tasted good last night after spending 6 hours on a tractor yesterday. We are having a repeat performance this evening. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
