Last time I checked you can get a chronarch mg brand new for about 200 on ebay. Only 20 bucks more than the curado. Those and the curado 100d's are my favorite.

All shimano reels are great but I perfer the calcutta 100 or 150 for trout, I also carry a 200 for those fish that might take a little more line. The best part about calcuttas is they are easy to work on, so of the others you have to have a PHD or MBA to dig into.

I just bought a Daiwa Coastal Inshore reel 3 months ago and love it. I never really was a Daiwa fan, but it was a good deal and it was recommended to me by a few, and I really like it. To be perfectly honest, I like it better than my Curado. I bought this real as a backup, but it is now my primary! I love my Curado and would always recommend one, but I like the feel of the Daiwa better. My Curado is 13 years old thought and never been rebuilt.

I bought the Daiwa at Fishing Tackle Unlmited for 139.99 and it came with a decent Daiwa rod. If you just by the reel, it is 139.99. I did a review on it a while back, here it is. Good luck.

Also, go to a tackle store and hold each one and see if you can tell a difference. You wont be disapointed in either one of the Shimanos.

Don't make the switch. You know what I do with baitcasters? I throw them in the water. LOL!

              Chronarch

I love my Chronarch, but the Curado is pretty close. The chronarch is lighter and I get a little more distance. Try them for yourself and see which you prefer. Everybody is a little different, but I think the Curado is definitely worth the money or if you can get a good deal on a Chronarch, then there is no way you can pass it up!

I read the reviews. Had no idea. They look great! Is it worth it to go up one grade and get the Advantage HST?

I have three Curado 100's and three Penn Slammer Spin Reels. I find that I am using the Penn's more than the Curado's. The Curado's are great and easy to care for. The Penn Slammer's have an oversize drag disc and stainless ball bearings (So does the Curado's). I guess it is just preference. I know if it is a windy day, I definitely want my spin reels. I purchased the Curado's because it seemed that the reel made the fisherman...boy was I wrong. I think I read somewhere, maybe on 2cool, that a real fisherman uses a baitcaster.... then I realized a real fisherman catches fish, no matter what kind of hardware he uses...

I say fish with whatever feels good to you....

I also like the daiwa coastals. I have several calcuta's 100's, 250's, 400's, and 700's. They are great reels but if you fish a lot they are heavy compared to the coastals, curado's, etc.

90% of my rods are spinners... Although I do love the Shimano Calcutta 200, 400 & 700 series but the new Curado blows the 200 out of the water! IMHO

The 400 & 700 are my jetty rods.

I am going to be working for the next 45 days and will not be able to go fishing for some time. You’re more then welcome to borrow one of my curado's to see if you like it. I live in the Pearland area, e-mail if interested.

Shoot cuz, I give them a chance, anything inside of a mile offshore gets my 250 max. The 400& 700's are for offshore.
