  • Tired!!!

I'm a little tired of hearing about all the other clubs and organizations doing so much for the Island after Ike... Yes its wonderful and we wouldn't be able to do it without volunteers, however what I'm tired of is not hearing our name out there.... This is OUR ISLAND!!

Let's get a list going of what we can do for the "West End"

After Rita the founding members got together and rebuilt the Pirates Bait Shop... no more than 4 hours after the storm and we had the pumps and tanks back running and operational.

We've restaked with PVC and florescent RED & GREEN tape the channel leading from Pirates (Lake Como) to West Bay...

    I propose we restake

    1. Pirates
    2. Jamaica and Carranchua Reef area
    3. Confederates Reef
    4. Greens Cut

Any other suggestions out there?? There is also a Wildlife Sanctuary near Pirates and Laffites which could be a trash / debris pick up

    Let's hear some ideas!!

Well to add to that Cody and I have taken like 6 boatloads of stuff off of the sanctuary island! Not to mention picking up large sections of random debris throughout the bay. If everyone would just pick up a few items from the water everytime they go out this would help greatly. Or just pull up to an island in the bay and pick up whatever you find. Who knows, you might even find a kayak or a working baitsaver livewell! We have pulled thousands of pounds of debris and salvage from the bay and the beach since the storm!

Coe, we ought to stake out the sections of steel underwater inside the geotube. These are new dangers since the storm!

Actually the more I think about it, I think we should arrange a debris pick up day on the sanctuary island. It would be an interesting task and people could find some interesting things. Since the island is accessable only by boat, it could be years until it is totally clean again. And considering many ducks and dove use it as a nesting ground it would be beneficial to us to clean it up!

Across the street from our house in JB is the State Park. Last time I checked it out there was still allot of garbage and random stuff like water heaters littering the marsh

              TTU Wader-

TKF (Texas Kayak Fisherman) was handling that this past weekend... I'm not sure on a Trash Pickup but it would be cool to get with Jamaica PD and coordinate with them on a beach cleanup effort we could start at the end of Sea Wall and drive down to SLP

jt, ap had to pull up those stakes because every time he took one of his dates fishing she jumped out of the boat and started dancing around it.
it was digging into his fishing time.

Coach Law and myself have taken 8-10 trailer loads of debris(wood) off of the west end since Ike and Boom and myself even removed a 18' section of steps from the diversionary canal.
I work just enough to pay for my fishing habit.
