Man, this still gives me the chills. Just goes to show you, you never know what can happen, even on the bay as Robalo and others have pointed out. Be careful and have a ERP or Emergency Reaction Plan. Pack neccessary things. I also always keep rain gear, warm clothes (sweathshirt), bottled water etc on board. I read a good article in Texas Salwater Fishing about a trip on Matty when a nasty storm blew in and one guy got sruck by lightning. Not a good day. The author recommended to pack a tarp to keep on the boat so you could get under it to stay warm and dry. Even in those summer time storms, the temps can drop very quicly and when you are wet, it is miserable. Stay safe guys and pray for the families.

The Coast Guard Released its press report on what happened.
Apparently their anchor was lodged/stuck in the reef and they couldnt haul it in, then the boat filled with water and capsized. Its a shame. Here is the link. Pay attention out there guys, even in the bay and always have an emergency action plan and supplies/gear.
