Congatulations to Cobler/ Faickney, two young guns from Lake Jackson, very impressive stringer of fish. Soule/Cubbage and Francis/ Popovich had good stringers too and Steve took second for biggest fish. I heard Gregg's team had a problem catching a fish under 25" or they would of finished higher. Aaron Stillwagon and I finished 18th with 10.1. We had six bites all day and landed 4 of them. All of our fish were around 3.4 lbs., and were caught on suspending Mirrolures.

Well everyone stories were pretty similiar, COLD and not many bites. One of my fellow red raiders took home big trout, he caught it right before he had to head back for the weigh in. Unfortunately they didn't have a third fish or they would have been in some money. There was a good turnout and I will be fishing all of them next year.

It was a fun tourney yesterday and very cold I might add. We got to our first spot and Dpop had a little trouble getting the anchor locker open because of the ice LOL. I don't know what it is but the last two speck tourneys I have fished both have started with ice on the boat LOL. As far as the fishing goes I can't complain. We had our game plan and stuck with it til 3:15 at one spot. We knew we would probably only get 5 or 6 bites through out the day we just needed to make them count. I got the ball rolling within the first hour with a 6.5 and then Dpop followed about an hour later with a 5.5. We thought things were gonna improve from there but then it turned out to be a grind for the next 2 or 3 hours with only maybe 3 hits between us. The last hour and a half Dpop stuck a good Trout that was he thought was under 25". We took it back to the boat and measured it 3 or 4 times but it was just a hair over 25". It was heartbreaking watching this Trout just slowly swim away from us in about 8" of clear water. My last hit of the day turned out to be a 20" Trout that went 2.5.
I never thought I would see a day in a tournement where we struggled to catch a fish under 25". It was amazing! When I caught that 20" Trout it was alomost as if I caught a 10lb Trout. I never have been so happy to catch a small Trout LOL.
We had the right game plan and fished the right area we just came up short, very short.
Can't wait til February..... Game on!!!!!

Congrats on the success you did have, making top 10. Looks like almost half the teams didn't even weigh in.
That's a great play by play report, thanks! If it won't give anything secret away, what made you so sure your plan was a good one? Bait present? Location? structure? Looking for insight, so please share any helpful tips. Thanks!
