Congrats to everyone that did well. The conditions made for a tough day and we knew it was going to be a grind. Our fish never really fed that good, it was just kind of a bite here and a bite there. Greg pretty much summed up our day. I actually ended up getting 2 more good ones in the last 2 hours. The first one I knew was a little long when I got her next to me. Grabber her and held her up next to my rod and yep she was obviously over 25". She was just a tad over 5 on the boga, so not bigger than the one in the boat so she went back. About 15 mins later I got another good bite and when I got this one up I thought for sure this is the one we needed. She sure did not look 25 but was a little over 5.25 so back to the boat we went to check. We sat there and measured that fish over and over, it was that close. But, in the end she was just over and had to go back. It was tough watching 17 plus pounds swim away but that is the way it goes. I never would have thought we have trouble getting a good one under 25.

GSB as far as knowing the plan was a good one. Yes, there was bait present. There was shell and mud for structure. And for the most important thing, there was good fish in the area. Some of the things that let you know the plan is a good one can only be learned from experience. Knowing the area your fishing is very important. Know what the fish in the area like to do and how they act. Know where they go in different conditions. All of these things and more are learned through experience in areas.

        Daniel,
Congratulations to all the winners! We fished a few hours that icy morning and never got a bite. Did you fish West Bay?
