Ok all you team blue folks. Your demagogue was in his element today as the Community Organizer-in-Chief at a Ford plant (lots of irony there) railing against the House Republicans for having the nerve to try and block HIM from raising the federal debt ceiling. Oh he's good at dividing the country, and the willing MS media will parrot what ever the narrative de jour may be on any subject, but why not read what he said on the same subject in 2007? Because you don't care, you already know he's a liar, right?

Obama on Debt Ceiling 2007

Fairy tales!! The congressional record is a bunch of who ha!
He just said (several times in the same speech) that raising the debt ceiling, doesn't boost debt!
Chew on that and twist your profligated brain into submission.

The debt ceiling is monies needed to pay what we ALL have already spent. Its been raised over 100 times since the 50's. Our government has reduced the deficit spending by 1/2 in the last few years. But WE still spend more than we take in. Meanwhile, we need higher paying UNION jobs, training, minimum wage hikes, fix our bridges, roads, and parks, and better health care for ALL. The loan sharks will get ALL of us if we default on what WE ALL owe to OUR creditors. Americans need the debt ceiling raised without default, the ACA(Obamacare) for ALL, and pray that we rethink taking SNAP benefits from Americans that need them so badly. I never dreamed or imagined that our Christian nation would become so greedy and evil. I support Barry 100% and pray our Congress wakes up to how badly they are hurting Americans when we need their help in so many ways."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

The President's been in office for five years. The Democrats were in control of the House from 2007 to 2011. It's his failed policies and his economy. Only 42% of Americans are paying income taxes, and we can't afford all your parroted spending priorities.
Reducing the deficit by 1/2 is good, and the sequester helped that, but unless we quit raising the debt ceiling, the spending will never be under control. Prioritization and tough spending decisions need to be made. The government is not Santa Claus!"GET OFF MY REEF!"

I didn't spend it, those Jackwagons in Washington did! As far as some of the above when I saw what was going on with the Union I put down the cool aid and started thinking for myself.Originally posted by mgstei1 View PostThe debt ceiling is monies needed to pay what we ALL have already spent. Sure WE can afford it. Tax the rich and tax the corporations, create jobs on infrastructure. WE have done it before and it worked. So who are the 49 percent of Americans who don't pay income taxes? The vast majority are the lowest income households, the elderly and young working families with children. Romney learned this in the last election the hard way. WE have to pay our debts and the debt ceiling has to be raised to do it because of interest and inflation. Cut the defense budget is the quickest and best thing to do for revenue until more high paying jobs come about. Even the conservatives are sick of war as was recently proven with Syria. Yes, as Americans WE spent and spend through our elected officials. Its OUR debt to pay. I support the Unions 100%. They got US ALL 40hr work weeks, weekends, pensions, health coverage, vacations, sick leaves, safe work place and 4-5 years of training to learn a trade or job. And they are the driving force behind US ALL keeping those benefits. Even the workers who are not and will not join a union."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

Obama is a great PR man who will say anything to get his way . He has always lied . The government spends our money on needless , wasteful projects , give aways. Union management is corrupt . The unions were a service to workers early on but now are bullies and thugs . The workers are deceived . Big government is our ruin . Socialism is here and we all will suffer . The country can't afford unlimited spending , then increasing taxes and borrowing . We are already past the point of no return . It will all colapse . We're in store for dangerous times .GEORGE A. It's not 49% of all the people in the country, it's 49% of people who file. If you did any independent reading or study you would know that since the last election, the number of people paying taxes has dropped to 42%, more people have been laid off or cut back to part-time, 80% of the jobs created in the last year have been part time, millions have quit even looking. THAT'S the fruit of the Presidents policies, even after spending six or seven trillion dollars.Originally posted by mgstei1 View PostSure WE can afford it. The leaders of three major U.S. unions, including the highly influential Teamsters, sent a scathing open letter to Democratic leaders in Congress, warning that unless changes are made, President Obama’s health care reform plan will “destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.”If that’s not bad enough, the Affordable Care Act, if not modified, will “destroy the very health and wellbeing of our members along with millions of other hardworking Americans,” the letter says.
Don't you realize that the artificially low interest rate and the inflation are both caused by the Presidents policies & Bernanke's quantitative easing?
My father worked at Hughes Tool for 40 years and never joined a union, and he would be the first to tell you about what the unions did to destroy that company. If I remember correctly, he said that the machinist got production quotas, so they would come in and do there quota quickly , but burn the tools and not re-tool, so the next shift would spend it's shift retooling and the process repeated on the next shift.Last edited by kenny; September 21, 2013, 05:57 AM."GET OFF MY REEF!"

I say again, the 49% are Americans who are elderly or do not make enough to even begin to pay in taxes. Low wage earners suffer because of this inequality in pay while CEO's and the capital gain rich earn more than 200% of the minimum wage Americans. The organized workers will fight and argue over their will and right for a better living no matter who or what affects them. Even the president. They have the right and will and are not easily intimidated because they have the training and hard work ethics to back them up. As far as the QE, WE ALL are better off from this being done. The recession could have become a major depression and no one really knows how many jobs were saved when the banks went belly up. The organized worker has protected themselves and non union workers for years from companies that could care less about their employees. Believe me when I say if they could get us ALL back to 1.00 a day they would. WE ALL have benefited from their iron *** stances and strikes and for what they sacrificed for ALL working Americans. Hostess which is now a LLC is a fine example of what a capitalistic company can do to rid itself of employees and hire back employees at extreme reduced wages. Remember if you work for a living and swing your manhood through a gate or punch a clock, its US against them, and they are gonna win! Its just how you and WE want to play their game.By the way, I pray your dad is getting a nice pension and SS for his retirement as he well earned it. Brought to him by UNIONS and DEMOCRATS."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

Yep , work hard , save , invest , spend frugally so you may prosper and have enough to give back to God and the poor . The problem I have is the government stealing my money to waste and keep increasing the amount " I owe " . Supporting the poor , widows , orphans , and those who have fallen on hard times should be helped , mainly by the relatives , friends, and their church, then by others . My problem is with the lazy , not willing to work people , drug users , and thieves who abuse the system , lie and cheat , have multiple births to get more money to spend on cigs , drugs , and alcohol . Those unscrupulous people are not the ones God is endorsing . You reap what you sow . It's a material and spiritual law .
2 Thessalonians 3:10
for even when we were with you , we would give you this command : if anyone is not willing to work , let him not eat .
if you are on the government dole ( our money ) and able bodied , you should be doing something like help maintain the projects you're living in , pickup trash , work a vegetable garden . Same thing with inmates . No pumping iron and hanging out . Work gangs and raise your own food except for the most dangerous felons .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. And I don't like the career politicians who have a lifetime retirement income and a golden parachute health plan not subject to OBUMMERCARE talking about and changing social security like its a gift to us who have paid into it with our own money and they have stolen and squandered . The government should protect our borders , deliver the mail , ensure our pursuit of life , liberty , and happiness and let the states handle the rest . The government has done none of that but deliver the mail and I guess they will stop Saturday delivery .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO.
