I just hunt at the local ponds, but you get some looks . Especially when they are trying to hold a birthday party and it gets hard to work the birds when they stock those rainbow trout. Seems the only thing that will bring em in is white bread. Hope this helps.

You can legally hunt from any navigable waterway. This is true so long as you are the required distance away from a public road or property boundary (home/ canal houses, fishing camps etc). There are also closed areas as mentioned. Research all the Refuge areas in your area. Each refuge has its own rules & boundaries. West Bay as a whole is 100% public & open along with all bays around the Texas Coast assuming they don't have any regulations in place to prevent that.

The best thing to do is like someone mentioned above, is to take aerials to your local GW / TPWD with an appointment time & talk to them about the area.

I did this for an area in West Bay and was still harassed by land owners. I even had letters from the state stating I was in my legal rights to hunt there. The problem is certain people (landowners) think they own the entire area and will make your hunt miserable. There is such a thing as hunter harassment. Be respectful but know the law on both sides that way you can talk intelligently. If you need more information send me a PM. We can talk and I will walk you through Google maps. I have my 3-5 spots already so as long as we are nowhere near my area I don't mind helping you out.

Thanks for the responses guys, the place i am thinking about definately meets the 100 yard criteria, but i think i will sit on a bucket in the water or contact the GW.
