  • Recommendations for new wader

Im new to wade fishing and have tried it once last summer and really enjoyed it. Was wanting to get into it alot more this up coming year. What would you recommend for me to have. So far im getting a Stinky Pants Stringer and some Rayguard boots. What would you recommend on far as topwaters and colors. I would appreciate models and numbers because im partially color blind so somethings are harder for me to distinguish. Thanks

SS Jrs in bone, clown, chrome/blach or blue, chartreuse/black, black.SS in same colorsSkitterwalk or small skitterwalks in pink, bone and chart/chrome.She dog in bone/chart, chrome/chart, chrome/boneHe dog and she pup in same colors. That is a good starter set and there are lots more colors that catch fish.A good shoulder box and belt are must have and make sure your rods are marked with lengths for minimum and maximum. A boga and waterproof camera can be good investments also. The ray guard boots are really heavy. Look at muck woody wading boots or just the regular reef boots with seperate ray guards. Buy 2 sizes big so you can wear with waders and wear neoprene socks during the summer.Good luck!

Last winter, I bought Sims waders and the flats wading boots at FTU. Livin by myself at the time, I waded almost every day of the week unless it was too too windy. The waders held up nicely, but the Sims wading boots are WASTED. The eyeholes are plastic and semi glued into the boot. After a couple months, all eye holes had ripped out, rendering the boots USELESS.

I rinsed the boots after every wade but I think the problem is that the cord lace absorbs too much dirt and really wreaks havoc when having to tighten the boots.

TTU Wader, do you guys have a replacement warranty on these guys?

              Also, some advice:

Spend the most on your boots... They are your first defense. Search for the reef guard wading boots on the site. If you walk-in and do a lot of exploration, the boots wont hold up after a wade through shell. The soles are so thin, you can feel what your walking on, even on pavement. After my first wade with em, I had to return them because the warm water (in summer) really softens the rubber, allowing the shell to cut through it like a hot knife through butta'

If you fish almost every day, 1 season is typically what you get out of waders/boots. That was the Rule of thumb when I guided on rivers in CO. I am sure the life expectancy goes down with the salt, oysters, and mud on the coast.

I fished almost every day in the winter for a couple months. The boots themselves held up.. The shoe-string system is what failed. To fix the problem, I wrapped my boots in duct tape the same way you wrap up a sprained ankle.
