Since I am new here I have to say that your project boat looks really nice. You have added some items that would make a Bayou boat, or one that would be used primarily as a platform for going after Alligator Gar in the Upper Trinity with a bow a platform that would suit that purpose.
However, for a Gigging boat that would be used in West Bay and the flats that I have been in on some of the Bayous it may turn out to be a bit heavy.
Don't take this the wrong way. It really looks nice, but with all the weight you have added it's going to draw way too much water to get up close to where folks like "2112" usually stab the heck out of the saddle blankets.
A "Spiked Wheel" for getting Flounder? You HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING US!!!

This boat will be a good all around boat for fishing our area. Truth be told, it will probably make more daytime fishing trips than night time flounder trips. Either way, as I've stated before, it's the project process itself that holds most of my interest. If we get a few flounder along the way, that's fantastic, too.Originally posted by Cuda340 View PostSince I am new here I have to say that your project boat looks really nice. Anyway, don't be a hater. No one likes a hater, well, except another hater.
Chill out. Go fishing."I love this country, it's the government I'm afraid of!"

Well, here it is in the water for its first sea trial. Everything worked great except the tachometer. We motored in less than 12" of water with good water pressure on the engine. I'll post some video later this week I took with my GoPro.
We'll be taking a night-time trip soon to check out all of the lights
The draft was 8" with 5 people on board, and 6" with 2 people. Pics below:

That's a pretty quick turn around time from "Gee I sure would like one of those nifty flounder boats." to "Hey check out my flounder boat." Nice work bossman. When do I drop off my boat? Scott's gonna get bored now. When I grow up I want to be, One of the harvesters of the sea. I think before my days are done, I want to be a fisherman.

Check this out. I purchased an aluminum cooler holder from an FWE member a few weeks ago. Since then I've been trying to find a cooler to fit in it snuggly. I went to Academy Saturday morning and found that Coleman had made a cooler just for my rack and even made it match my boat. What are the odds??? Can't get much luckier than this.
