    Hey all,

I've been assigned to come up with a "must-have" item for the November issue of Coast magazine of the Galveston Daily News.

So be it a lure, a gadget, a gizmo, let me know. The catch is that the item must be able to be bought from a local store in Galveston County. We try to steer clear of chains, i.e. Academy.

    Let's hear those ideas!

A Shiner from the Sand Bar at West End Marina.

That was a knee jerk response......

          Well, She did ask the question here, so . . . . . . . . .
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

I should be more constructive with my response....
I've found many an unexpected gizmo and doo-dad at Colonel Bubbie's. I'll tend to wander in there, while the women folk are trolling the Strand. Some of the items I've gotten are: long handled stainless spoons, woolen wear (stay warm even when you're all wet) and canvas gear bags. Their prices aren't necessarily cheap and I do wish they were open on Sundays.

It may be nancy, but we get our soap (old fashioned block) from Hendley Market. The bouquet is divine.

A guided fishing trip with Capt. Greg Francis-a/k/a "Aqua Pimp". Given that Galveston is a fishing town-look at the Piers, fish camps, large number of boats, homes on canals and even beachfront wade fishing, a guided fishing trip with a premiere fishing guide is likely one of the best presents a person could receive. It is something that once booked, you look forward to with great anticipation and expectations. You never know when you may hook that once-in-a-lifetime fish or experience such beautiful sights while fishing, such as the birds, marshes, alligators, and even the ever-friendly otter; a guided fishing trip can provide all those things in one event-filled day.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

                        x5

I took my sis and brother-in-law from Wis. on an Aqua Pimp trip. It was well worth it. The local color, by way of the ever friendly otter, did not make an appearance, neither did Kenny while we fished his reef.

Cat fur coat made from San Luis Pass toll booth feral cats.

Absolutely positively 100% Galveston county produced.

Seriously- A Boga Grip or similar tool. It allows you to handle a fish without touching it with your hands. Hook removal is simple and safer. For catch and release its hard to beat.

Amanda, the best gadget anyone can have would be a de-hooker & vent tool both can be found at Academy on the Island or any good tackle store. A de-hooker protects the fish & you. It allows the angler to remove a hook without causing any or little damage to the fish insuring healthy populations for generations to come!
