Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

I have a couple friends in danbury that you could talk to?

Weigh in is end of October. If its a steer it has to be between 450-750 lbs. We had a 100% Black Angus last year. Do not want that again. We paid 500 for it. Which of course wasn't too bad, but it just not competitve. Needs to be a good cross bread. Needville is tough as far as competition. I'm not that familiar with Heifers. I'll have to see what categories there are. My son is 9. and weighs 65lbs MAX. LOL

But he did a fine job taking care of his steer last year, he just was too green when we got him, and meaner than hell. He drug my arse face down. And my 270lb husband could not even control him once he got 1000 lbs.

Sometimes you do get a bad seed. If you want I can ask some of my contacts that I have and see what I can find. I would raise a heifer because they don't get as big as a steer. Just my opinion.

            Thanks for your input!

Our FFA AG teacher is going to help us get a steer for the NYF.

It's going to be EXPENSIVE but....it has been broke already, and has had hands on it since birth. So.. we'll see. I really like the steer, and you get more of your investment back. At least we got to eat the last one. He is yummy!!

Thanks for all your replies. I know you probably don't use facebook, but if you do, here are some pics of Tater with the last one. Is there such a thing as a sponsor??? Never heard of it. LOL We all need one!
