  • What is the best lens color for the galveston complex

I am looking at getting some new polarized fishing glasses but am not sure which color lens would be the best.
I am thinking amber lenses would work around galveston.

Amber work great on the days that the sun is not a million on the brightness scale. I wear smoke for those days, amber for cloudy, overcast days. My eyes can't take the extra brightness of amber on the sunniest of days. Best thing to do is see if you can wear amber on a really bright day. If you can then it will work under all circumstances

It depends on what you want to accomplish. For sight casting to reds in shallow water you definitely want Amber/copper. Blue or gray are best for overall glare reduction in bright sunny conditions.

The green mirror has an amber base in the 400 series and a copper base in the 580 series. So it gives you the contrast enhancement effect of the amber/copper lenses.

The blue is over a gray base.

Green mirror is my standard but I do switch to blue on a really bright day. I have a pair of silver mirror also if it is overcast.

When you put your cursor over the lens color it will give more details about that lens.

suggest that you give a call to the fine folks down at C & M Bayou Fuel in Lafitte, LA.

I ordered a new pair of the Fisch with 580 amber lens/green mirrors for $105 less than my local retailer. He ordered them from Costa today - only because he didn't have the exact model I wanted in stock.

If you know what you want, give them a call and get a price quote. You will not be disappointed."

It's all personal preferance, but like most everyone else on here, I agree. I wear green mirror/amber lenses for overcast and blue mirror/smoke for brighty, sunny days. Both worl in all conditions, they just have their pros and cons for each condition. But if you really want to optimize your visibility, it will take multiple pairs. Good luck.

Amber lenses are the best for the non boat operator type.

I've always had amber. Works in all conditions and is great for better vision in rain or light fog.
