  • Tides Above Normal - PHOTOS of Coastal Flooding

I was just looking at the stats for TS Francis in 1998 that ruined hundreds of cars, trucks, appliances and everything else.
The recorded tides were 3' 9" above mean sea level.(they were higher here I'm pretty sure) They're forecasting 3.5-4' with Alex.

Now the media almost always says it's going to be worse than it turns out to be.........EXCEPT in Francis they under estimated by several feet and caused millions of dollars worth of damage along the Texas, Louisiana coast.

I'd rather guess to much and be safe.

I'm sure we'll see a decent push of water with this disturbance.

Hey I'm up on the ridge of this island. I only had 32" of water downstairs during Ike. WE have a honkin' ENE wind this morning. Guess what that does to West bay!

Kenny I know what your saying... Bailey had 0" of water in the storage unit next door to West Bay Bait & Tackle... I couldn't believe it after having 5' in the downstairs in Pirates.

Where's the West End Marina Bar Cam when you need one? Be great to see the tide about now. I certainly hope the new facilities stay above water.

Fortunately, NWS forecast for the weekend is not that bad. The 4th is still gonna be a happening time on the westend. Nearshore is calling for:

10 knots after midnight. Seas 2 to 3 feet. A chance of showers
                      and thunderstorms.
                      .Saturday...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. A

                        Don't you ever work Jeff?

Water is getting up, but the worse I ever saw(excluding Ike) was Galveston Bay touching across 146from the Clearlake side to the bay side at the base of the Kemah Bridge. I literally drove back from Lousiana and had to drive down the center line until I reached the bridge. I can't remember the tropical storm but believe it was in 95 or 96.

                          Probably francis in '98.
The tide is over the bulkheads but not on the roads here that always flood. Another 12" shouldn't flood downstairs garages. Another 18" might!
