  • GISP today

went out with a buddy on our yaks to GISP. neither of us had fished the area before but had heard it was decent. we tried everything: topwaters, corkies, tails, gulp tipped tails, gulp under corks etc, not a single bite all damn day. we fished the grass from the launch site, the grass squares and the geotubes. we were gonna load up and try west end of xmas bay near arcadia reef but were so disgusted with how the morning had turned out we just went home.

            What's that old saying:

Fishing...not catching...just saying! It happens and I've been there too, but it usually ends in a drunkfest somewhere, or starts...I don't remember!
            Don't be a Nancy!
If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!

I had worked that entire area, the day before, with tops, corkies, and plastics with no joy. There was an awful lot of pressure from other anglers in the area as well.

ya i think i counted 4 other yakers and 2 waders in the area.

what really kills me is this is my 5 or 6th trip in a row to west bay/xmas bay area to be skunked on

Me and the wife fished GISP Sat 5/23 and struggled to get 3 nice croker for dinner from the geotubes. Sometimes they are there sometimes they they aint. Keep trying.

summary of my last ~5 trips to west bay:

get up at the asscrack of dawn, load up all the gear, go buy some donuts, paddle all day, try to hold in coffee shits, no bite, load everything back up, come home and unload, clean everything off. all i got to show for my days effort is a sunburn and an aching back...
