I was browsing around Google Earth this morning and DAYUM - they have new imagery of the West Bay area! What is so good is that the new imagery was taken on February 16 of this year - when the water was WAY low and the water was clear. The detail of the bottom and guts is amazing - good enough to pick out shell and reef in a lot of places.

You can see the prop scars on the bottom of Green's.

Thanks Walker! Man, that is some awesome detail. I think I found the missing room from the camp. It's straight behind the place, less than 100 yards. Wonder if some of the tools are still there?

do you lose signal out in the bay with your phone Coe?

Heck no... I've used it many times finding the right inlet to go duck hunting I'll hand it to a friend and he'll just watch the blue dot as we move across the bay...

Its really helped in heavy fog finding the channels sometimes the headlamp throws so much glare when the fogs in you can't see which makes having a back up system nice. I don't rely on it but it puts me within ~ 100' of my target.

just wondering cause one guy I fish with has one but we lose signal quite a bit. This is in matagorda bay though.

West Bay is okay... I've lost signal in Chocolate before up Halls Bayou but it always returns and just catches up... If I were to lose complete coverage I'd just bust out the GPS. Nothing compares to having Satellite Imagery overlaid onto your GPS. I'm still searching for a company / product that will do that...

he has a GPS with Imagery. Cost a chit load for the chip. Can't remember which one it is but its bad ***. He got it after we kept losing signal with his phone.

Found a chip on Garmin's website, but you can also get it on ebay and probably other retailers. It's called Bluechart G2 Vision. Looks like the one for Galveston Bay covers the entire GOM from South Texas to Florida. On ebay, looks like the buyitnow prices are around $150. Pretty expensive if I can do the same thing with my iphone.

The Garmin Colorado series of GPS's allows you to put your own images in it. I have a Colorado with imagery that I made of Green's in it and it works really well - and it costs nothing to do it. I need to make a new one now with the new imagery. I will also make one of the SLP area as well as Jones Lake.

that sounds like the chip he has. Its on a Garmin GPS. That GPS does more crap that he would ever use.
