Ahh, so glad to be on the sunglasses discussion. Last night, I destroyed my pair of Costa's. I mean completely detstroyted them. Shattered the fight lense and floded the hinges 90 degrees down from the direction of the hinge. Pics to come.

Either way, now Im upgrading to the 580 lenses that I have always wanted. Hahaha, everything happens for a reason right?

Definitely Costas for me but recently I signed up on the FishGillz.com and they sent me a coupon for 2 for 1 so I said what the heck and you know what they aren't too bad. Very light and since I bought them for beaters, I went ahead and got different colors. One pair is white and the other is flamin red...they work very well too and all for $52. Also the glasses float, for those uh oh moments.

There are medical reasons for wearing good sunglasses that offer near 100% ultraviolet (UV) protection. Some cheap sunglasses do have UV protection but most do not. Plus, cheap sunglasses without the UV protection will make your eyes open wider, and you'll get MORE EXPOSURE that can damage the cornea and retina ... or increase chances of eye cancer. All I use are Costa and they are the best for me, but it all depends on your comfort level and budget. I will tell you one thing about sunglass that I bet all of you can relate to. You will NEVER lose or break a $ 10 pair from the gas station, but if you drop $ 100 or more, they are gone in a few months By the way, I went to the fish and hunt store of the tollway in Houston and they have some cool lanyards that do not slip off your sunglasses.

i dont want to spend more than 100 bucks. i can get some costas on ebay for around that much but was wondering what other people recommend.

Beore you buy something just go by all the local eateries and ask to see the lost and found. This means you go to the place where you tip well and frequent. Thats where I Found my last two pairs of ray bans. Skills that pay the bills.

Fish gillz don't fit my face they are too small for my face. They don't block out any light either. Costa's are the only ones that work well for me.

I have glasses, so I wear fitover types that I buy at the fishing show.....the large, dark, bug eyed appearance drives the ladies wild.

Smith is the right direction if you are willing to spend some $$. They are by far the best glasses that I have ever owned. Worked with their Action Optics division for a long time, have several pairs left, but lost my favorite.

If you are looking for a very good pair of polarized lenses, in a light weight frame, that floats!! Take a close look at the FishGillz! I got a pair in January, have worn them on every trip, and have been very pleased. My face isn't the eaiset to fit, they offer some very comfortable full wrap models, that are super light weight.

Make sure that if you are fishing inshore, you always pick a lense that is yellow or amber type tint. This is by far the best when it comes to color enhancement. Very important when trying to see fish in shallow water, and the right lenses will light a redfish up like a neon sign.

BTW. Costas are great, for about half the price of a good Smith pair, they are nearly optically correct, and fairly durable.

I wear smiths when I snow ski good sunglasses especially low light conditions

Maui Jims are sweet I really like the wire frame glasses they are very light weight

I switch to smith's, I love them. the lenses are the best for fishing.

I also have Maui's for the comfort.

I wish I could put my smith lenses on my Muai frames.

I agree on the Costa 580 lenses - they are absolutely incredible. I have had my Triple Tails with 580 blue mirror lenses for 2 years now and they are still like new. If I ever lose this pair, I will waste no time in replacing them with an identical pair.

They are expensive ($250) but worth every penny of the cost.
