  • One expensive red - time for a new BillyStix!

The reds and trouts are in the lights this evening, so I wanted to get a line wet. Throwing my custom made BillyStix, I made two cast and then nailed a nice red, but boy was it expensive! Reeling it in and as I was brining him up on the dock, bye bye BillyStix.

Billy, does your rods come with a warranty

Ouch! I lost my Billystix in Ike. I had only fished it twice, but really liked it.

I'm guessing you accidentally got a nick in the graphite somehow. I've had that happend before.

Bummer. My favorite rod was broken in the back of a friends truck by a sliding milk crate full of chains. I'd rather have it broken off on a fish, but still sucks.

Anybody read the broken rod article in Gulf Coast Connections this month? Good info.

Sorry about the rod, i broke an all star several years ago on a slot red.

billy stands behind his product.. bad blanks happen and my first stix broke about 6 inches from tip.. but all i was doing was hooking a lure in the ring by the reel. he told me to mail him the eyes and i got a new billystix for the price of shipping..
Yeah, and all the muchachas they call me big pappa, when I throw pesos their way!

Seems to have been a bad weekend for rod breaking, EXPLORER 21. Read my west bay report 5-8-2010, broke my GL Loomis not doing anything peculiar. It was an old rod... maybe it's time was up.

Sorry about your rod. I never saw a rod break in three places lifting a fish. I don't think it's possible unless it just exploded, or did it get more broken after the first snap. If so where did it break first?

                            To all,
Let me make one thing clear, I am not throwing Billy's rods under the bus, he builds a great rods and don't let experience keep anyone from buying his product!!!!

Crap happens, remember it is REPLACABLE

The first thing that came to mind was "where was the net," not "defective rod". I am sure thats what everyone else thought as well.
