            The smallest rattle trap you can find in chrome will slay them..... Also, just take and bare treble hook with no weight and fowl hook the shad in the lights then throw it back out and hang on. I use to to catch tons of Trout in my canal by fowl hooking 1,2, or 3 shad with a treble then just cast it back out into the shadows. Match the hatch......

                There is a suspending hard bait that I get at FTU that works great. I think it is a yozuri and it looks like a glass minnow. You can keep it in the strike area much longer.

                    They were not there last night or I did not stay up long enough to find out Had too many red wines and first cast, I hooked up on my neighbors dock, LOL!

                      speaking of hooking a neighbors dock....somewhere--4 years ago or so-- i have a picture of a 35 beer aqua pimp swimming back across a canal w/ a she dog in his mouth at midnight that was thrown and "hooked up" on a neighbors dock.....that was right after a 25 beer aqua pimp leaned back in chair and did a 1/2 gainer into the water.
