Geez, that is a lot of damage. It certainly was/is poorly marked and they should have flagging/posts, which they didn't-I was confused last Saturday running through there-wasn't sure whether to go south or north of them but figured north since they are putting the hazardous geotubes in.

On really high tides I've seen folks run over the geotubes that are by GISP-now the ones in Jumbile will add another hazard.

Dang Kenny, they need to do the right thing and pay up-further it would be smart if they posted warning signs at the JB Launch area or at least Joe Kent should write about it. I will email Kent now and suggest he do so.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. I e-mailed Joe about it two days ago... remind him again Jerry.

I've gone over the GeoTubes in the Robalo before. Wasn't fun and its poorly marked. One things I've wanted to do is go with PVC and mark it all. I still have tons of PVC just need help staking it out. Now that the water is warming up I'm going to start staking hazards.

I was way over 100 yards West of the site and was headed North of the barges. The pipe/hose had drifted West and North in a big U so where I hit it, it was parallel with the long point in Shell is. Cove.

I sent Joe Kent a message after I posted above. Hope he says something about it.

That thing is darn dangerous-I'm glad Kenny didn't get hurt beyond his boat and motor.

Kenny knows the bays and is an accomplished boat operator and knows what he's doing. Just think about all the spring breakers that run all over and have no idea of where reefs and shoals are, makes ya wonder how many other folks hit it.

Lastly, I hope the GD "tree dragger" runs over it and sinks his pontoon boat!!

Dang Kenny, I didn't know it floated that far out-I was scared sheetless when I saw it and wondered WhereTF the pipe was-dang dredgers should be more responsible and mark lines/pipes before they kill someone-just darn glad you aren't hurt physically Kenny.

I put out ten pipes in the fall along the tubes and the duck blind concrete. That one slab needs a 4"-6"dia. piling marker.

Good question ... and for the record, I have never seen a dredger mark his pipes.

Are you kidding, they are required to. Not that they do, its just a requirement. I looked hard with the binoculars and from here today, it all looked like it should be. Red and Yellow markers along the lines. As it should be. I wasnt on the water tho when you were Kenny, and I sure dont know about a few days ago. I dont get out all that much. Kenny may have jumped them enough to get them some spotlights to get in line with regs. And their tenders that come in here to JB, their stickers on their boats are out by about 5 years. But who am I to notice. I'm not the CG or TP&WL I'm just surprised that they weren't inspected and approved before laying lines and starting a project. Something here doesnt add up to me.

sb: and not a happy sb:

I agree. In April I'll be down there marking hazards for the summer & weekend warriors.

No I wasn't running at night but it was late last Sunday afternoon. The state safty folks from to GLO were out yesterday and the Apollo Environmental owner was taking them out for an inspection.
After I jumped Mr. Rodriquez on the barge the other day and spoke with the GLO everything was marked an lit correctly I bet......but last Sunday not only was it not marked but the line had drifted almost straight out into the bay.

I don't expect Apollo to do me right at all. In their first email the owner said, "I can only surmise that you were too close to our dredge operation".
                                Without any facts or information......
