    Bass love to eat Waterdogs!

but if you want to go artificial just do a typical worm with a weedless hook texas rigged with a 1/8 bullet weight on there...

Have someone show you how to put the hook on the worm or watch a video on youtube...

Small ponds like that might be stocked with perch, bass, catfish, or a combination. Each is a different kind of fishing, although small minnows can work on all three.

      • Perch are panfish that are excellent on the table, small baits and small hooks, keep the ones about a big as your hand or so. They will feed on bugs like midges, or small artificials. Even small, they can be fierce fighters.

      • Bass are the king of pond fishing, should you have any, usually fillet size and caught on minnows, grubs, worms, crawdads, and larger artificials. I like spinner baits, myself, and change out the plastic tail to suit my fancy.

      • Catfish can be very fun, although is slow fishing using stinkbait, soap, cheese, and heck I even caught them on leftover hotdogs. Treble hooks are commonly used, with a weight for the bottom. These are also good on the table but if the pond is muddy, the meat will taste a little muddy too.

      Tight lines!

I wouldn't eat the fish from a small pond, especially if it gets runoff from yards or the street.

You're probably going to have small bass and sunfish in it. Ultralight gear is a lot of fun since you can cast small lures and the fish fight better on it.

Small crankbaits and topwaters are my favorites. Small inline spinners like rooster tails work good as well.

Fly fishing with small poppers for sunfish is a lot of fun.

I have caught tons of bass from small ponds. Spinnerbaits, Rapalas, spooks & Jrs, and my all time favorite....That Lunker Lure buzzbait! That one has produced probably 40 or 50 bass between 5 & 8 lbs for me.
